Hello all!!! I'm glad to be here on SBG and will be answering questions to the best of my ability, as well as asking questions ๐, like this one. So luckily I have a large local pawn shop that doesn't know the first thing about Swords, Knives, etc. Anywho, a few weeks ago I grabbed a replica sword of "Anduril" from LOTR fame. I don't normally buy or collect wall-hangers, but for $20 I grabbed it, assuming it was the $200 UC replica. However once I got it home and really took a good look at it.. I don't know... I will describe the sword, but if pictures are desired of course I will post them. First of all the sword has no markings whatsoever, no UC markings, no marking from the Darksword functional version, no nothing anywhere. Except of course the Elvish runes going down the fuller. Also it doesn't have the "sunburst" marks on the blade coming down from the crossguard. The sword is in mint condition, it is VERY light, I mean high-end arming sword light. Easily brandished with one hand, the blade is some form of spring steel, it will bend quite a bit and return to true, it has a decent edge on it, I just haven't gotten around to putting a proper edge on it. It is a tiny bit "whippy" but not bad at all. Other than that it has the typical Anduril crossguard and pommel. Now this is not my first rodeo by any means, but I am stumped on this one. I cannot find a picture of this exact sword anywhere. Any help would be appreciated!! Thank You in Advance!!! -Casey

Open up eBay and type in Anduril. There are lots of different variations coming out of China, India, Pakistan etc.

Thanks Jussi, believe me I have looked everywhere ๐. I just added pics maybe that will help. What stands out the most to me is the functionality of the sword, and the absence of the Sunburst engraving on the blade coming from right below the Crossguard

I don't follow fantasy swords, even LoTR stuffs, so I'm not too clear on what Anduril should look like...but looking at this from the standpoint of a regular sword, I have to say, it doesn't look like much.
I don't know if Anduril is supposed to have a ricasso, but this one looks weird and out of place to me. I can't remember what geometry the sword is supposed to have, but I kinda figured it was more diamond than hexagonal? Maybe not.
What really gets me, though, is the grinding on the blade and the...not-bet l very-nice-looking furniture. Casting doesn't look very good, parts seem oversized, pointy bits where they oughtn't be, that stuff.
I dunno, I'd wager "cheap knockoff" and, at the very least, try to take it apart before deciding it's functional.

Thanks Random! I had considered taking it apart, so I will definitely do so now. I have quite a large collection of mid-high end swords, so I know what absolute crap SLO's feel like, and I also know what an Albion feels like. This Anduril just.... feels good in the hand. Oh well we will see. Thank you so much again โ๐ก

I've got a couple wallhangers that "feel good" but I know better. It may be screwed together tightly and balance well, but that doesn't mean it should be used hard. Always best to check first, if you have the option.
Is there a visible peen? I'd wager not...

Hi Random! Thank you for looking ๐. No visible peen as you said. I have cut water bottles as well as gallon milk jugs, used and full with water of course, several cuts at 90 degrees nice and smooth with new edge. So I dunno *shrug*. I sharpen high-end knives, swords, axes, tools etc. as a side job so I'm sure that made a difference. Also after unscrewing the pommel and handle I found what looks like some decent welding work, and a threaded tang that is a decent thickness. But if anyone does recognize this sword I would still like to know the maker. Thanks again so much!

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

I've had some swords in the past with 'decent welding work' and a 'decent tang thickness'. They all cut quite well...a few times. I got really good at building full tang short swords. As to the maker of your particular sword...not a clue. Since the LOTR movies came out, it seems like every sword vendor on the web has some sword of this type, so finding out the actual maker may be nearly impossible.

Any chance we can get a photo of that tang, for science?
