Hey guys, I have a cold steel cutlass machete that I bought when I was a teenager. I've had it for nearly 10 years now, and was thinking of giving it a makeover as it just sits in the back of my closet now.
I was thinking, it might be cool to buy a stainless steel fencing saber guard. And modify it to become the guard for my cutlass. The main hiccup I am running into, is that I can't seem to find any stainless steel fencing saber guards still in production. Do any of you know of any that I could buy online, preferably here in the US. But as long as shipping isn't outrageous then I'm not averse to buying internationally.

You can check out Zen Warrior Armory. They sell several versions of a stainless steel, symmetrical fencing saber guard.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

Maybe modify the guard off of a cheapo wallhanger? It's been done plenty in the past. I think it's a cool idea.

You can check out Zen Warrior Armory. They sell several versions of a stainless steel, symmetrical fencing saber guard. Thanks for that! I had seen some of their stuff. But most of their steel guards were out of stock, so I kind of assumed they were discontinuing them. I was able to find one there that I think will work well though!

I modified mine by stripping the plastic off of the D-Guard, leaving the steel interior, then cutting a guard out of mild steel plate from the hardware store and bending it to shape, then welding it directly to the original D-Guard. It is very sturdy and the welding did not affect the blade or tang.
I can't imagine that a sport saber guard would withstand strong impact from other weapons, if that matters. But it would look good. Did you ever do it?

I haven't yet, but I do remember seeing yours in a YouTube video! And the integrity is one reason that I wanted a steel guard. I figure that it would be at least as strong as a brass guard.
