Nice looking sword and shield. I dont think Ive ever seen that shield. I wanted to get the 12th Century Teutonic Arming Sword also. The $119 price is hard to beat.

Will be interested in your take on the arming sword. The Teutonic sword for me was a win and I have been eyeing the Arming sword.

Teutonic Arming Sword - brief review
Grip fit/finish/design is super nice for the price - really could not get any better on a sword in this range.
Guard is aligned well with blade at base, but the twist makes it seem off.
Distal taper measurements
4.5 at guard 4.15 4" from guard 3.3 at mid point 3.2 4" from tip 2.83 1" from tip
It is 3/16" stock and nice to see full thickness at the base (not several inches from base).
The blade is a little too flexible, but that is sort of expected with the thinner stock. Minor twist across almost all of the blade. Twist becomes much worse across last 8", ~30deg rotation. Minor cosmetic issues like glue in spots it shouldn't be, easily cleaned. Unsharpened edge thickness is similar to Windlass. Weight 2lb 8oz
I believe it will be well worth the full (non-discounted) price without the blade twist. If you get one w/o twist you will have a winner even if there are cosmetic or pommel/guard alignment issues. I could live with the flexibility were it not for the twist.

I got my 14 Century Longsword Second in today. I really like it. I cant see any twist. Im going to need more time to look at it. I was sitting here aiming it and the light and angling it. My wife thinks Ive lost it. First off I havent wiped the blade off, theres a thin grease on it. Lots of waves and polishing ripples in the blade finish.
I have pics but I cant load them here for some reason.
Small amounts of glue on the pommel and guard areas where it meets the hilt. Also a small rub spot on one side of the grip by the guard.
Nothing bad.
The handle feels good but you feel the line where the leather is cut on one side of the grip. I flip that to the down side. No rattles. Giving the blade a palm smack it really sings and moves.
I havent check for the taper or anything in real detail with the blade. There is a gap present in the guard and blade.
The scabbard looks great, the chape is more of a nickle/German silver look compared to the dulled guard and pommel.
It feels light in the hand.

I havent had a lot of time to look mine over. I cleaned it. My Son saw it first but theres a slight twist in the blade maybe a foot at the tip it starts. Also on one side of the tip I have a small spec of something on the blade, not sure if its rust or what. The twist is very minimal. This pic has oil film on the blade but the polishing ripples are visible.
Small rub spot.

rest the pommel on the floor and hold the sword straight up and look down the blade point-first (carefully). any twist will be super easy to see that way.
i had hopes that the twist would be minor enough to mitigate with grinding, but that was not the case with mine.

Hopefully the Balaur people can get thier product to the next level. The long sword has great potential. Thanks for the reviews.

Uummm people. The swords cost next to nothing. If you want them to iron out issues that will cost cash which will necessitate price rises, at which point they become Ronin Katana (or similar). They may well have thought that through and decided why bother, they’re getting sales as is without spending the cash. Basically, if you want a better sword spend the cash !

I had to return the 14th century longsword back to KoA in an exchange for the 15th century Italian longsword. The blade was beyond wobbly. It flapped around like a wet noodle. I understand that 5160 spring steel has more flex than other carbon steels, but this one was scary-floppy.

Flex is mostly a factor of dimensional cross section. Springiness a factor of tempering.
