I found such an old tsuka. Hishigami is interesting. It looks like: on a white hishigami there is a black stripe that is wrapped with tsukaito. Can anyone brighten something?

I don't think that is regular ito. it looks like they used jabara-ito in a style to look like regular ito and maybe had to use washi paper to back the jabara to help it stay together tightly. I'm not sure if there is a benefit to doing it that way, other than to maybe let the separate strand show somewhere else in the wrap. do you have a full picture of the tsuka?
