If I had known the dark side served chocolate stouts, I would've switched sooner Chocolate is a post age of exploration commodity. Truly a flavor only the saber is compatible with One can only practice rapier in one's right with a glass of merlot in the left for so long before the new world beckons...
...now what would pair well with the Danu? Part of me thinks cider, another part absinthe. Djinn should instruct on this matter

Then in the meantime, someone is posting in inquiry about the fantasy gladius in a historical subforum and seemingly oblivious of the two threads for consideration. sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/55945/bci-aelutian-gladius-gonna-thing?page=1&scrollTo=770644What does this further speak to the mindset of SBG participants and indeed, awareness by administration regarding activity on the board? Anyway, apparently all hindsight at this point but really? My favorite line when working for a living was "don't put me in charge, I'll fire everyone". Relevant to the whole ball of wax is the actuality of awareness. Sorry

That's a really good question. I'm tempted to say Gin and Aloe juice. Cider is my second choice for sure

Anyway, apparently all hindsight at this point but really? My favorite line when working for a living was "don't put me in charge, I'll fire everyone". Relevant to the whole ball of wax is the actuality of awareness. Sorry I did see this thread/question but was not sure how to answer it right now and as mentioned, need to take a few steps back for a bit avoid getting too upset over what is effectively a series of failures..
I final decision has not been made, just saying that everything attempted to date has failed and some time is needed at my end to strategize and regroup.
Just because I don't post a reply doesn't mean I haven't seen something

Should we figure Erikk knows of this thread yet chooses a similar approach in communicating an issue? Sorry. Levity seems to be the true measure of the day Don't worry, be happy!

I like a good fantasy sword but the multiple colors and the shiny brass make them look like toys to me. I think if the designs were more cohesive they would appeal to me more. The Vorpal, I can picture how clean it would have looked if the gold cord grip was consistent throughout instead of switching to bright blue and the scabbard a simple tan leather. The Castir would have looked downright evil, in a good way, if the fittings were dark, antiqued and dull finished with a similarly dark cord wrap in the same color. As to the Danu, a black scabbard and a simple cross guard without the little antlers and no blue would have been better choices. I mean the general shapes are great, the blades look fine, but the other design choices take away from their appeal. Even the photos of them could have been enhanced by losing the busy background cloths. Now I know it’s my first post but I’ve been on the other sword forums for years and I hate to see any sword enthusiast let alone the guy who made this forum not doing better. If my suggestions help in some way moving forward, good luck to you sir.

Those.... Actually look pretty good tbh. I dig the black scabbard on Danu. But I would keep the antlers still.
The more I think of it, the more it fits the theme of the moon, as it represents night better. I'm considering this mod since I messed up the paint anyway

Same with the Castir, that one just looks all the more sinister. Less so with the Danu, I prefer the original with all of its nice green and blue tones, plus the antlers are a nice touch. Although the blackity black variant is pretty stylish as well...if the moon and rune were in whitish gold or a pale white, that'd look particularly awesome
How'd you design these by the way?

I think these last few comments are a bit indicative of the problems this project may have run into. People like different designs and colors, and when the sword stops being historical, people have even more freedom to pursue their own tastes. So someone might like the vorpal sword, but think for just a bit more, they could commission something similar with one or two changes they would prefer.
Also, I know its probably annoying AF to hear hindsight bias like this on what might have gone wrong and I apologize if it comes off as overly critical or dismissive. Just my two cents.

Yea I can see that. Plus when you got a guy like driggers making amazing customs for an affordable price, it's hard to argue with that. Who wouldn't want a messer/falchion/Khyber? But I think these will sell with time.

I do like what ericsc has done for the Castir, that's a much cleaner look for it. I'd even go further and blue the blade...but that may be a bit much. Otherwise, I can't say the other designs are much of an improvement. I love the Danu as-is, for starters. Its current color scheme and design elements are what appeal to me, personally. Turning everything black just feels like that one kid in school who thought he was edgy. I'm still hopeful that I might acquire one or more of these in the future, but it's going to be a while as other expenses take priority. If it's any consolation, there are dozens of other swords I have been lusting over but haven't bought because I need to pay a bill...

For me it looks like it's been converted to be a homage to Hectate instead of Danu. Neat concept. But Danu is my preferred source
