I find myself stuck between the Universal Swords Australian 1908 Cavalry sword and the Windlass Patton. I know the design is relatively the same, but I'm looking for some outside experience to form a better opinion.
Thanks!

The Patton has more edge (two of them).

It depends on what you want. The 1908 by Univeral will have the better finish and more pleasing to look at making it the better show piece. But the EN9 steel is a bit soft making it not much more than a show piece. The Windlass Patton is of better steel allowing it to take and hold an edge better. So if you plan to do any cutting the Patton is the way to go. However one way out of the dilemma is to obtain both. Hehe.

The patton is better. Objectively. In my opinion. Which is fact.
As edelweiss says, the Patton has two edges and a better cross section for cutting actions, however limited by the blade form.

I'd have ordered the CS 1908 if it were still in production, but I can't find one other than the left-handed model, though I'm not sure what the difference might be on that point, given the pictures I've seen. (Though I suspect it's mostly which side the basket dips down more over the hand.)

I wrote Cold Steel through their site just to see if they planned on bringing back the right-handed model. I sorta know the general consensus on here about CS's customer service from scanning the forums before I joined as a member, but I figured it's worth reaching out to them for curiosity's sake.

I guess at this point, I've got to settle for the left handed versions out there. Though I should think it being left handed has more to do with the leather thumb strap than the guard. Think so?
