Hi, Can you please help me identify the rapier on pictures. I searched on the internet and it reminds me some sort of Italian Schiavona rapier ? If it is so - what is the approximate period of this sword ? Thanks in advance, Paul Attachments:

Hi Paul, I'm sorry but I think you don't have a genuine piece on your hands. I think it is most likely a piece made for display and is modern made in the style of a schiavona.

Thank you. I didn't think about modern repros. But probably it is one of them. The handle and blade don't look antique.

Yeah, Jordan's right. For one, the guard is constructed entirely unlike any historical sword I've ever seen, and was clearly made by someone who had no idea of the actual purpose of any of it and only a rough idea of what it should look like - cargo cult sword design, you know?

Yes, I agree it is more like souvenir wall hanger. The guard is very formal and doesn't look like for real rapier or even sport / training type. And it is obviously not antique.
