Good Evening SBG Forum,
I have my eyes on a pretty sweet looking sword - but is it worth $1,000? I don't have an identification - so that would be helpful - not sure if you can manage it given the 5 pictures... I will attempt to attach them to my post here.
Hope those worked.
Thanks!

Run away from that one is my gut reaction. The tip, especially, bothers me.

At best, it was made as a tacky piece of home decor and at worst, it's a terrible fake of an antique sword.

It looks like a fraternal ceremonial sword to me (late 19th century early 20th century). Are there any markings on it?

Theater sword maybe, for use on stage?

No, it's not worth a thousand dollars.
Some of the components may be from real 19th or even 18th Century swords, but if so they're not in good shape, the "pommel" in particular seems to actually be a drawer knob and the whole is a composite no older than late 19th Century at most, more probably early-to-mid 20th, I'd say. Decorative, theatrical prop or outright fake depending on the maker's original intention.
PS. The patina also looks suspicious, as in it could well be a 21st Century fake, too.

My guess is early 20th century theatrical prop. Not worth $1000.
