Hi all! I Finally got my high end szabla in and decided to make a video review. It turned out super long and rambley but I hope you still enjoy it. Below are the links to the makers Facebook page. Looking forward to watching this when I get a chance. It looks really beautiful from the still photo.

Really good review, informative and well performed.
And damn, now I'm even more jelly than I was from just seeing the pictures.

Ooooh! Shiny.
It does look like it has a great amount of distal taper. A good many reduce by almost half by the time they reach the cog/pob then more linear and then the foible going as thin as wafer.
A lot of later mass production during the 19th century seems to be more linear. The French and some others the exception. My US Starr swords and many of my British made swords are fairly linear by the 19th century. We see the extreme concave distal on a lot of swords before the 19th century.
I'm intrigued with the makers etching as he describes it on FB.
Good stuff

Nice video review and very nice sword. I really like the look and functionality of the side ring.

Excellent review, very thorough and informative. What an absurdly excellent sword. I really want one now, looks like a perfect sabre to me. The grip and guard just look divine and the tip design is particularly interesting, as is that epic fuller. I really like the handling dynamics you hit on, sounds rather nice. I may have missed it, but what's the blade length and weight as well as the handle length?
But now back to ogling that side ring. Such a great design, especially how the scabbard design really matches the grip perfectly. Now I'm repeating myself, I think my mind is melting from this sword being too awesome.

The sabre used by Michal Wolodyjowski here partly inspired the kind of hilt I wanted.

Your Szabla is Stunning, thanks for the detailed review. Your 1.8 pound blade must be extremely lively because the Cold Steel Saber, at 3/4 of a pound heavier, is like swinging a big block of steel.

And just under two pounds...that will be one heck of a fun sword to practice with.

Close, the hilt is 5 inches from guard to pommel cap not counting the langets

Update: I swapped hilts for the first time last night. Both fit the tang extremely tight, and they take a fair amount of twisting and mallet work to get on and off. Although, I prefer that to them being too loose and coming off on their own. I neglected to take pictures while I had the thing disassembled but the tang is massive. Its as thick as the base of the spine and nearly as wide as the blade itself. I'm actually really liking the original D guard hilt. Its got a really nice profile to it and I think the grip without the backstrap might feel a bit better in the hand.
