They've refunded fully on both swords.

I fixed all the bending. Seems they only done case hardening due to not enough heat soaking and quenching time. Thus the core is soft and can be easily bent back.

While I'm glad that you got refunds for the flawed blades, it is nice to see that at least they cut well. However, I think that damaged tips and bent blades is real poor quality control on their part.
Hope they improve on that point or they will start losing customers..
Thanks for the review!

Sorry to hear this Lancelot, not really surprised tho. We have quite a few reviews about the quality of their blades and heat treat though, but then we recently have repetitive reports about broken, bent blades and/or poor heat treatment? Hope they tighten the screw on this debacle soon.

Sorry for the disappointment LC. In general, I would worry...regardless of who made the blade, of really long blades bending or if spring steel...too much flexing. The longer the blade I would think the greater the stress on the blade in use. I would think that in the case of European great swords (ie. two handed) that the blades would be made thicker and so heavier. But too heavy is tiring. Once got to play with a nihonto that was maybe 32" and MASSIVE....also a lovely blade....but it was for me, slow...too heavy. (aside from being an est. $35,000 blade in shira saya.)

Happily, so fair...now with 7 JKoo/Sinosword blades, I have not found blade fault with any other than the "I don't like this sword" review. And that was due to not wanting a mirror polish and a narrow hamon on the kissaki (narrow boshi). It cut fine. RinC

anyway, LC how about you ask Van Lang why the tempering issue? I understand they had to move to a different location not long ago (Govt edict forced the move). Did they lack a long enough container to water quench the hot blade? Was their new furnace too short to heat evenly such a long blade? RinC

4 swords so far, three katana and one jian... no problems here neither, even with blemished swords were the hamon ran out in some places. Of course we are talking pretty standard measures and weights in my case.

RinC I told them before about their heat treat has issues from the videos they showed. They insisted it was alright. sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/56826/nodachi-single-handed-pommel-cut?page=2&scrollTo=768367

As of furnace length, you can see John Lundemo operate with a relative short furnace too. Quenching tank does need to be long enough.
