Uhhh... Not sure WTF happened here... Anyone interested in the p365 SAS? Me either...as page 8 of this thread was lost in a tragic boating accident. I've never heard of the SAS and wonder if porting REALLY knocks off 1/3 of the recoil on this particular 9mm?

My 229 is my favorite gun. Original German flavor.

I got to handle s p365 SAS The other day... It's VERY interesting... I'm tempted to get one and do some side by side comparisons with my p365.

Have my 365 MS on order. Will pick up the XL when it’s released here.
The SAS is interesting to be sure but doesn’t it also prevent many one-handed techniques? The porting is nice though.

I picked it up... Too curious had to compare it to my regular 365. Will get it to the range ASAP and report back... The mechanical function IS odd, you are right some one handed technique is impossible, the slide stop is unusable.

That's my only issue with the new SIG guns, they really dont have slide releases. I picked up a 320SC for carry, and the basically rely on manual slide release. Not so thrilled about that.
Compared to my Walther PPS, it feels off. Trigger on the 320 is great though.

I think it's a bit much... I don't know that anyone's gun has ever snagged on the draw cuz of a slide release.

In fact they recalled a bunch of guns specifically to swap out the slide release, which was weird.

I think the 365 SAS is interesting, though not interesting to me personally (other than the porting). The sight setup is pretty interesting, and seems like a potentially good idea for a carry gun, though I personally prefer the standard night sights. Since I don't pocket carry, none of that stuff is especially useful to me. Could probably swap just the slide over to a regular p365, that could be a better option, so that the controls are still normal.
The XL also doesn't fill any need I have. The main attraction of the regular 365 to me is the small size plus the capacity, and for me, barrel length does make a difference in how concealable as well as comfortable a firearm is to wear.
Springfield's new Hellcat might be interesting to some, with it's similar size and one-up capacity. Though it looks like the slide is pretty tall and the overall shape seems a tad peculiar to my eyes. Haven't held one, so just opining based on pictures. Probably still a lot of people not too fond of them for their actions in their home state, but it will be interesting to see how this new design holds up. Nice to see some other makers catching up, or at least seeing the demand and trying.

Solid observations... I'm one of those that won't buy Springfield for their actions as you mentioned.

Sig seems to be reinventing the wheel a bit with the SAS IMHO. I guess they aren't as bad as the other manufacturers.. check out Smith and Wesson's pistol page to get an idea of what I mean lol. Dozens of basically the same gun..
