From everything I've been reading, it seems that Sig had the bugs worked out of the P365 at the beginning of this year (2019 if anyone is reading this in the future). I've been watching the prices and waiting for a decent sale for a few months and then around the end of July found it on sale at Smokey Mountain Guns: $439.99 with no tax and free shipping for an out-the-door total of $459.99 after the transfer fee. Plus Sig was doing an "upgrade your edc" promotion, so there is also a $30 coupon for the Sig Store. The only thing I'm finding that I don't like about the gun is that the grip texture, while great during shooting, is like coarse sandpaper while wearing concealed. You can maybe see in the attached pictures what I mean, pretty abrasive against the skin. The grip modules are available from the Sig Store for $40, so I think I'll put the coupon toward one of those, then do my own re-texturing on it. Maybe get a 12 round magazine to and some other little thing as you get free shipping if you spend $100 at the store. Note that if anyone else want's a grip module for their p365, they are found in the "small parts shopper" section of the Sig Store, not in the regular parts section where the other grip modules are. Great price. I got the Sig rebate as well but mine might just go to Sig ammo. The 12 round mags are fantastic.

Btw, all my guns were lost in a tragic boating accident, so nothing for Big Brother to worry about.

Cheers GC Dude, what I find hypocritical is that you, being a stickler for being on topic, bring up past posts unrelated to topic. Has nobody heard the ol' boat joke, and is it really SOOO damaging to policy? Why are we talking about this now (why I meant dirt) about a post shut down? Come on, not that it's a big stinking deal but clearly a grouch move. Btw, ya got me SOOO flustered I accidently dropped my Sig down the toilet...DAMN YOU...now I have no guns. Happy now.

You're going to need a larger toilet bowl, doody.
Btw, ya got me SOOO flustered....
I've noticed that about your reactions and probably knew what reaction I would get.
Cheers GC
Oh, and enjoy the 365 xl

Oh, and enjoy the 365 xlYup, I sense a new series being formed..."Fluster & The Grouch", and that is why I love...err...like...err...tolerate ya so. I like the smaller one because it fits that realm (compact single stack yet double stack papacity) like no other, where the longer barreled Sig is basically a full sized gun and is lumped with all the competition.

"I agree if your talking about potential crime waves in the state or criminals contemplating the killing of homeowners. It certainly says that a group of criminals shouldn't attempt a home invasion while armed & wearing ski masks while looking to rob the occupant. Bet the next home invasion group think twice. Nobody likes killing...unless maybe the criminals. Appears Texas may have some sensible gun laws, as the gun was a simple semiauto...NOT an AK47 (implying full auto "machine gun"). Seems the surviving bad guys need to find religion, as the dead have already "settled up" with the Lord." " If that means easier access to tools that protect against gangs of masked, armed home invaders...winner winner, chicken dinner." "I would, and I think I can speak for you (to some degree) as well, probably care that the person(s) lives were ended by my hand, as the only goal was to stop the threat as quickly as possible. But plenty of time in dealing and living with the regrettable taking of precious human life, even wayward criminal lives. Now (this is important) would I care at the moment the invasion was taking place...NO...only after the fact and the threat is over. Once the decision to pull the trigger is made you employ whatever dark thoughts (never to be discussed with authorities...only "I was in fear of my life/it happened so fast") go through your skull as are required to get the job done. Only their immediate surrender or retreat would alter that verdict, as they were the only authors of the unfortunate event...and you, as the righteous defender, were simply executing a thoughtless function...like taking out the trash." "We are talking about Tony Starks post of the HOME INVASION in Texas where 5 SCUMBAGS (wearing masks and shooting back) were shot, correct? Now I feel better. Please stay focused on the particular story instead of veering into the general philosophical weeds with Jesus Christ & a bottle of bourbon...which I would gladly join in on, btw, as this story is simply a cut & dry case of righteous home defense." "Oh, your DAMN tooting I'm using names to describe those effing scum bag criminals, as I responded in no uncertain terms to your statement of "there is a tendency to use certain words & expressions over others, probably to make you feel better" as it indeed makes me feel better, though I will take you at your word that your not wanting me to feel worse and that your engaged in a general (and commendable) "pro human life" stance (who can argue with that). Regarding the bourbon, you have my sympathy;) . Will we find out extenuating circumstances regarding the case...I will amend my opinion as warranted. However, THEY were engaged in a HOME INVASION, wearing masks, shooting back, and these facts are the only things currently on the table. I'm with you on further speculation and philosophical debate on general topics, but I believe that is a different discussion." " I too have waited with baited breath on when to pull the trigger on pulling the trigger of my very own P365, and I think Sig dicked the freshman teething issues. A gun with the size of a G43 and the capacity of a G26 (basically a brick) is pretty damn compelling. I wonder why, with most of the guns in that size range sporting 7 round capacity (including the 12.7oz Kel-tek pf9), the G43 only holds SIX?!? Six vs ten is a BLOW AWAY and a game changer that is sure to put a dent in Glock 43 sales. Do you think the P365 is worth $499 (from current sources), and do you believe the price will go down some?" " Yeah, and that 12rnd (+2) mag extension doesn't look much larger, especially considering most round extensions on the sub compact single stacks only offer one (+1) round increase. I heard they built the p365 from & around the magazine and that it had three patents, one of them was a pyramid type structure where most of the rounds were at the bottom of the magazine and that it got progressively narrower near the feed ramp, while most conventional magazines are evenly staggered. Glock, who popularized the high capacity game, finally coming out with a single stack that offeres one less (6 vs 7) round than the competition really makes the comparison to Sigs TEN a truly ugly one. I think/know it is worth the price ($500), but was wondering if the current cost will actually go down and that the present price is due to popular demand." "The Mossy suffers from the same ol' "6 rnd. curse" as Glock, and the nice looking Steyr will have be great enough to overcome Sigs acquiring the military market (and thus all offshoots tied into law enforcement & civilian circles). In short, your probably dead right that the P365 will completely (just how complete is the only question) dominate the subcompact market. Twelve rounds in that size category is DEATH to the competition. Just who is gonna pick a 7 rnd. (with extension) pistol instead of a 12 rounder?" "As the P365 has only been out a year or so and many people (like you and I) are only now buying (or considering to purchase) the pistol due to waiting through the "teething period", I think the rest of the industry is on the drawing boards even as we speak. They would simply HAVE to be. " "The best price I see currently is $499, but they seem to be offering that at a lot of places. Competition may not make a better gun than the P365, but you should generally get prices lowering, which I imagine we should be seeing on the other manufacturers slim lines with their reduced capacity. It would be pretty hard to justify buying a G43 after the P365 showed its snout, so the other manufacturers MUST follow suit and offer similar capabilities...or lower prices. That 12rnder is a must purchase, and $40ish is pretty stiff, so I'll definitely bend your ear when the time comes." "$35 is indeed good...well...when compared to other places. Wish it were offered with the other two magazines, but then again I wish for a lot of things. It should also be noted in the $500 price that the Sig does include tritium night sights as standard." "That looks like a great gun, just in a different size class. Get both." "Guns are as addictive as knives & swords, yet even more damning as they are more expensive on average...and you have to FEED them tasty lead pellets. Gulp." "DEFINETLY a difference between an "Albion" handgun and a "United Cutlery"." "It would be interesting to do a side by side price point graph of low, medium, high cost handguns & compare their sword/knife equivalents. Your always after value equaling or exceeding cost. What would be a handgun equivalent of a Sebenza, for instance?" "The Sebenza thing in the knife world is sort of polarizing topic, being you can get a perfectly serviceable knife (Benchmade, Spyderco, etc...) for half to a quarter of that price. A frame/liner lock sporting S30V at over $400 is pretty extravagant, but the fans really harp about the fit & finish. I think a handgun equivalent of a Sebenza would be well over one to two grand. Maybe a Glock, Sig P365, HK VP9, Walther, etc...would be in the $5-700 realm, so maybe equivalent to Spyderco & Benchmade in the $75-130 region (Emerson seem overpriced). Ruger revolvers used to be less expensive than they are today, and Sig/HK semi's producing in American factories seem to be lowering prices...so price brackets can fluctuate. Ontario & Kabar fixed blades seem a great value compared to Tops & Esee." "Weight is your friend when shooting, and size gives you more control, sight radius, velocity, intimidation factor (just ask the bad guys who stared down Clints magnum barrels). Carry & concealment are the price of admission...but as the song goes, "He ain't heavy, he's my brother".""And first class fixed shipping is less than $4." (re 12 rnd mags) "Three or more mags...free shipping." "Mag price on that site so good, though I haven't even bought the gun yet I still might buy the mags anyway. Wonder why they are so pricey? Would be cool if they just raised the price of the Sig a bit and you got ALL THREE of the different sized mags in one box...a definite selling point. " "Just ordered 2 mags myself (4 total, along with a friend). Guess I gotta go buy the gun now, huh. Funny the subconscious ways we use to justify purchases." (unclear here if you bought the 12 rnd) "And I just brought the gun home yesterday. I waited for the duel thumb safety as I heard the trigger was lighter so not recommended by some to carry in pocket without safety when round in chamber, just want the ability to do so if certain situations arise. Purchased a Desantis mini scabbard leather holster (left hand) from Midway USA for $21." (In other words, not a pocket carry) "Great price. I got the Sig rebate as well but mine might just go to Sig ammo. The 12 round mags are fantastic." So, that pretty much brings us up to date. The more I look at the 365 xl (unless meant as a pocket pistol with a flush 10 rnd, the XL is only 1/2" longer and the same height as the shorter gun with a 12 rnd magazine. Sig will probably sell plenty of both and a goofy truth between the two is being able to swap slides from one to the other. Unanswered but likely true is that the 15 rnd might fit the base 365 as well. Is the straight trigger able to swap, etc and other internals between the two? Most of the above are the muses in this thread from the most vocal howler. Cheers GC make mine something in a Glenlivet I fear we lost bluetrain along the way here and hope it is just that they moved on, as opposed to expiring

Now we're onto something with the scotch, as I just purchased two bottles of The Macallan 12yr (one in Sherry and the other in Double Cask). Seriously, the P365 is really amazing due to basically being a single stack format yet having double stack capacity, though I understand you don't personally carry so you may favor a larger size firearm for home (not knowing what you do for home protection).

"Weight is your friend when shooting, and size gives you more control, sight radius, velocity, intimidation factor (just ask the bad guys who stared down Clints magnum barrels). Cheers GC make mine something in a Glenlivet I fear we lost bluetrain along the way here and hope it is just that they moved on, as opposed to expiring All my musings are amusing, and howlers can be vocal depending. Since you have opined that you bought 12 rnd magazines and a belt holster, the only size difference is half an inch and a longer beavertail.

I see what your saying and like the flexibility of being able to put the gun in a pocket if desired (also why I opted for the duel thumb saftety, as I'm a devil pawed lefty ), and I do plan on an inside the waist as well as pocket holsters (probably cheap old Uncle Mikes, as they work pretty well). There will be times when I like (for pocket) the ten round flat as well as the ten round pinky extension (they offer both with the gun) but I did purchase a couple 12 rounder which work real good with belt carry. I do like the other gun but like I said I think there are so many choices when you go bigger...and I have a lot of those (oops, forgot that Davey Jones has those in his damn locker ). Hope you enjoyed your annual weekend excursion my friend. We have gun shows kind of like that in Puyallup Washington and another place, but a lot of interesting differences with your Settler days setup (hawk throwing, shooting, other stuff) that I wish they did.

Paul Harrell (pretty cool guy on YouTube) liked the gun but he didn't recommend it (for pocket carry) without a safety because of the lighter trigger pull. Looks like the bugs are worked out, as that was the critique I heard from their rollout.

Sure, it is only called a thumb safety (but it does work better for us lefties, and I mentioned devils paw affliction). Just trying to be friendly & talkative regarding the subject, Edelweiss, though I'll grant "duel" more humorous and interesting than ambidextrous (can't challenge someone to an ambidextrous at high noon ), and duel could mean multiple safeties, I guess.

Or a mouthful of Skoal...while using spellcheck. I imagine dualing thumbs (I know, dueling) over a bottle of beer.
