Hi everybody. I am Laci from Hungary. My father bought this saber in the ‘80s in Hungary. The blade was broken, or cut at 67 cm lenght. The scabbard has also shortened. ( once a guy told me that after the hungarian revolution and freedom fight in 1848/49 nobody was allowed to keep a sword, so all swords were cut/ shortened- i dont know if its true or fals, 67 cm of blade is also the same lethal...) The blade has a ricasso, and the scabbard has two rings, wich makes me think it is a 1822 from 1860 to 1880. Altough there are no markings on the saber at all. Nothing on the blade, or on the brass handguard. The original grip was missing, the brass screw and the wooden grip is my fathers production. He olso grinded the bladeslower end, so that its not lquite like a broken blade now.
My planes are, to have it sharpened, and have nice pointy end make, put some gunblue or surface coating on the blade, and make a period correct looking grip..
Anybody knows when, where and who made this saber
the blade is 10mm thick at the guard, and nearly 31mm wide.

Can you take a photo of the spine? Very possibly a German - made copy, but if it has no script on the spine then it's not French.
