Picked this one up on ebay a couple of years back. Can anyone identify it? It was sold as a WW1 Italian Artillery Sabre if I remember correctly but I know enough about Italian sabres to know that that doesn't seem correct. It was made in germany by F Horster. I've never seen an identical one despite scouring the internet. I'm planning on selling it and I would really like to know what it is.
Please use the link for photos. The quality is not great due to poor lighting. If I'm ever home when it's actually daylight outside, I'll try to take some better ones.
Thanks for the help!

Huh, I haven't seen this model before. I can see why someone would say Italian with the blocky grip, but the brassy bars look more French or maybe Germanic.

It has the thumb rest of the Italian M1871 Cavalry. So, my guess is it is a Cavalry Officers Dress sword based on the M1871. There was the regulation M1888 Cav. Off. Dress sword but that one had the all steel hilt all later Italian Dress swords had. Maybe it is a little earlier than 1888. Is there anything House of Savoy related to see in the blade etch? I do not have any books about Italian stuff. The above is all I get out of Google Images. Nice sword by the way. How's the blade? Floppy?

1907 Infantry/Engineer sword. Mounted troops had similar blade with the basket hilt.

Thanks for the insight! No House of Savoy related imagery I don't think. The blade is indeed pretty floppy, though it is a very comfortable and nimble little sabre to be sure.
