Hi all,
Can anyone post/link pictures of what would be considered both atypical and ceremonial longswords that would have been used by Teutonic Knights?
I am particularly keen on finding out if knights of different origins would likely have regional specific swords and if so what any examples of what Southern German / Bavarian origin knights would have wielded?
Was looking at this lovely (LARP) Sword with hope it was suitable (though it looks a bit Robin Hood)?

By and large, the organization was building a separate order from the Hospilitiers and building a standing army. As such, typical rank and file structure. Nobles wearing/using what they brought and weapons procured for what amounts to a mobile militia. Basically the order of the cross but on a somewhat less religious group overall. Many Templars were absorbed by these other groups in the early 14th century.
There were some noted ceremonial swords depicted but your best bet would be studying the history a bit. The true soldiers supplied by nobles but in some cases troops organized from locals, from seasoned soldiers to conscripted peasants.
Run some searches and there are a few examples of fancy stuff and the swords of war, what you expected as local trends of the times.
