You guys think I could construct some type of Messer or Falchion from this saber blade? It is from a windlass Hungarian saber and is 27'' long i was going to make a cutlass and shorten it. I also have a mig welder and could even weld a nagel and even a knuckle duster to the guard pictured that I may use. I also have some stag pieces and walnut to make a grip. If I went the messer route I know it would not be a true messer but would be close enough for my taste. and I can make a pommel.

I think your messer idea would work well.
Since the quillons are of uneven length, the idea of welding on a knucklebow sounds especially good to even up the aesthetics
If you can't drill through the tang to make a riveted grip, maybe you could drive a few pins into the handle scales so that it just looks riveted
