Some people like to watch these shows just to pick out the boo boo's. I think it's more of a challenge to try to spot the things that are correct. I did spot one scene in season two where Uhtred and company were riding into the sunset and Uhtred's back scabbarded sword was on his left shoulder instead of his right where it always is. Maybe he just had a boo boo on his right shoulder that day so he switched it to his left. Maybe he just wanted to try being left handed but it didn't work out for him. There's always two sides to every story and scabbard.

Maybe they even mirrored the footage for the sun's position and didn't think you would notice.

I notice everything, sometimes I even notice things that aren't even there.

If something wasn't there, and you aren't around to notice, was it really not even there?

I finished watching this season the other night and all in all I really enjoyed it. There's stuff I could nitpick that doesn't line up with the books and like almost all tv productions I dislike a lot of the costuming choices but that said I think that it is a mostly faithful homage and I look forward to a 4th season. The locations are gorgeous and the strength of the secondary cast was really good.

That's the thing, shows like this are fiction not a documentary and are made to be entertaining. So they are dressed in leather rather than wool and Uhtred wears his sword on his back which you have to admit looks cool. They're going for the cool factor not historically accurate. If it's entertaining I can live with it, at least they got away from the horned helmets, double blade axes and unrealistic fantasy swords. And most of the time they use the name Danes instead of Vikings which we know didn't come into use until after the Viking Age was over. And a cute naked girl once in awhile never hurts. The 3rd season DVD's will be coming out in about a week and I will be buying it and it's good to hear there might be a 4th season.

I love the story, and the cast carries it off very well. However I'm not with you on the weapons. Bloodhair had a terrible axe, and why do the saxons have jians? It's strange to me because some of the weapons are great, Hæstans axe for example. Most of them however, no. God no.

Well if you're talking about the 3rd season I haven't seen it yet. Only have season one and two on DVD.

No problem, already know who's getting killed off in season 3 and Uhtred has a new hairdo and probably a new love to go along with it.

I just watched The Last King on Netflix again and cringed when I saw one of the protagonists carrying a double-bladed Hanwei hero's axe... In a back scabbard. Other than that a good movie. It has Vikings fighting on skis.

I have it on DVD and yeah it is a good movie. They were doing so good right up to the axe. Even the clothing was good, wool tunics no Mad Max bad biker leathers. The skiing scenes were great, almost made me want to take up skiing again, almost.

The director probably hired consultants to make it historically accurate and then insisted on the axe despite their advice because it would look good on the movie poster.

Probably also helps that it was made in Norway. Unfortunately from what I read it wasn't a big money maker, only made about $8,500 so I think a sequel is very unlikely.

That was just from a very limited theatrical release. The real money these things make is hard to calculate because Netflix doesn't share the data. It's akin to Game of Thrones. The content fuels subscriptions.

Just binge watched the entire 3rd season of the Last Kingdom on Netflix. I watch it with a beer in one hand and the Viking sword I won on this site, in the other hand. I enjoy it for what it is and don't over think it. I like Uhtred. He doesn't live in a civilized time and yet tries to do the right thing even if it's against his best interest. I can not stand the King's homely bickering wife. She really gets on my nerves. She should be greatful to Uhtred for saving her entire family, but noooo. All she knows how to be is a "negative nelly". Haha! I generally fast forward past her and the munDANE portions. Did you get that? hehe But the blonde witch is mega mega hot! ....psycho but very hot.
Now I'm about to open another bottle of beer (or 4), pull out my tomahawk and binge watch the new 3rd season of Frontier on Netflix. Declan is an intense good/bad guy and Grace is a hot redhead.
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

How good is frontier? Been thinking I need. anew show to binge Is that the 1812 based show? If it is it's crap imo. I can't even say the reasons why it's crap because I hate it so much, but I'll try. It's very pandering to the modern idea of the native American rogue and offensive to everyone and everything else, with red neck Billy Bob hill billy American army men chasing a nicely dressed British man, his Indian eff buddy, And her angry boi brother through the woods hurling racial epitaphs and being killed by ninja natives. I didn't get passed the first hour. Bad acting, bad writing. But this is all just my opinion and it's been a while since I watched it. The ballad of buster scruggs is really good Though. Iffy first play but entertaining and drew me in. NOT FRONTEEEEIR! I'll try to find out which one I'm thinking of tonight when I get home if I remember.

Didn't watch Frontier last night. Was too tired after swinging my sword during Last Kingdom binge watch. Haha!....eh. Frontier is very good. It's about the fur trade in Norrh America/Canada in the 1700s. Jason Momoa plays the lead, Declan. A partial Native American outlaw fur trader that is strong and bows to no one, just like real and true homeland heroes, the American Indian warriors Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull, Tecumseh and the almighty Seminole warrior-Osceola. Grace is the feisty, decent and beautiful scottish redhead that loves him. As a partial American Seminole Indian warrior myself with a green eyed strawberry blonde wife, I mega approve Frontier! .....love that term "Ninja Natives". Haha.....eh. ....forgot to add Crazy Horse.
