Hi all....just joined and wanted to say hello and also ask for a little help...I`m a 1st empire collector in a small way and have just bought an antik costume AN IX French Carabinier sword....has anyone got one of these or any information about it?... rds K What are you looking for K? The Royal Carbiniers were the oldest standing regiments of the cavalry. 2 regiments dating back to Louis XIII. They managed to survive the revolution and served with the Army of the North. Napoleon did not add them to his Imperial Guard which bent some noses. SO the Carabiniers were named the 1st Bridgade, 1st Division of the heavies. The epee forte with the flat backsword goes back to the early 18th Century. After several disasters, the Carbiniers were allowed to armor up. Yves Guinhut is quite a character. Don't get between him and his money; he hates giving refunds. He won't tell you where he gets his swords from. Mumbles about east europe, but more likely India. What did I leave out?

Hi dave ...many thanks for getting back to me....actually it`s the details of the AN IX pattern sabre issued to these two regiments and whether or not the antikcostume replica measures up (think I`ve seen one in photos of your collection)
