Would you list these three in that order of wonderfulness?
I hate threads like this for a lot of reasons and often the last to list "the best" of anything but I am curious what the group of readers think of these three and if there was only one you would retain, which one? Of course, there are variations of all three and maybe why I am looking at the CZ variants again but carry for protection isn't an issue to me. Which would be your favored shootin' iron?

I have the steel CZ 75 in regular size and the compact model. Also have the Beretta 92S and FS. During my 25-years in the Army, I was issued a .45 and then the Beretta. It was that reason I bought them as a civilian.
Between the CZ and the Beretta, I like the CZ better. I also own some variants of the CZ as well. Both are good shooters and it is hard to say one shoots better than the other. As you know, it is really the shooter and not the firearm when comparing quality pistols. The CZ (steel) is a heavier gun. Recoil is almost mothing in the 9mm. The CZ compact is a perfect sized pistol and fits my medium sized hands very well. Ever though they call it a compact, it is not a small pistol.

#1 CZ 75 I'm fond of the PCR variant for its lighter frame and overall smaller size. The 75 in general seems to fit my hand very comfortably. Good controls and easy to shoot well. Also fond of the slide rails being inside the frame.
#2 Beretta 92 FS Also fits me well but not as well as the CZ. A bit oversized by modern standards but also very easy to shoot. Never liked the safety and you used to have to be able to find a G variant to get a decocker in its place. Now you can get a $55 kit to switch out the safety for a decocker. A Wilson Combat 92G Centurian is on my current short list for whenever I have time and funds to get back to my firearm hobby.
#3 Taurus PT 92 FS Had one many years ago. liked it a lot, but wouldn't get another unless I couldn't afford #2.

I am going to a gun show tomorrow night with the intention of buying a 9mm handgun. The Taurus is on my short list of acceptable handguns if the price is right (My budget is probably not going to be high enough for anything like a CZ or Beretta). Would I prefer one of them? Sure! I'd really like a Jericho/Baby Eagle in 9mm but that's outside of likely. If you're curious, my short list looks like this in preference order: Walther Creed - very interesting plastic fantastic lover. Ruger P95 - had other P series in the past. Heavy & reliable. Taurus PT92 - good Beretta copy since it came from Beretta tooling Star BM - Old surplus 1911ish pistol. Parts availability an issue. EAA Witness - Tanfoglio's CZ75 clone S&W SW9VE - S&W's Glock clone that managed to make the trigger even worse than the original. Cheap though. Hopefully I can find one w/in my budget.

I agree with brotherbanzai, never owned any of those pistols but have shot all three and liked the CZ best, but I also didn't notice much difference between the Taurus and Beretta. Keep in mind though I don't have big hands by any means. To wlewisiii, I only own the Star BM and it's been completely reliable. Excellent trigger(3lbs on mine) and very positive safety. It fits my hands very well and shoots one handed better than most guns I've shot. It's slim enough too to carry, if you're fine with the weight. Mine is one of the last models from 92' and looked virtually unused when I got it.

Good to hear about the Star. There are a fair amount of them about right now and a little looking, a little haggling...

All three are great. I'd probably put the Beretta at the #1 spot, but they are really hard to put in any particular order over one another. They all have subtle features that make them slightly more appealing.
I've got XL hands. I think that has a lot to do with shoot-ability of these three.
Like Bill, I was issued the Beretta in the Army. I probably have a strong bias towards the Beretta because of my familiarity with it.

Ok,so I went to the show and came home with a PT-92. Couldn't find much else I liked and the price was acceptable. Depending on the weather and my truck, now is the time for the range. Got a couple hundred rounds of 115 gr fmj to test it.

It depends on the range of the budget, but depending on the money, my list would be a bit different:
High end 1. LTT/Wilson Combat Beretta 92. 2. CZ 75 Shadow 2 3. CZ 75 Phantom
Budget 1. CZ 75 Omega 2. Taurus PT92 3. EAA Witness/RIA Mapp

I have the Steel EAA Witness in 10mm and .45 and both are nice pistols. Higher capacity as well in both rounds. I did replace the spring in the 10mm to a 20 pound one. Is a semprini to chamber right now with the slide but should loosen up with use.
