Saw this in the G-Spot the other day and the 4.5” one they had was beefier than the other XDM’s (.45, 9mm, .40) I’ve shot & held, so it should be an interesting addition to the 10mm squad. You should REALLY try out the Rock Island Ultra FS HC if you ever ge5 a chance. It’s a nice solid 1911, and shooting roided out full house 10mm is so, so nice!

I checked out the video and it looks good. I already have the 10mm in the EAA Witness and RIA.

What 10mm ammo is preferred for HD or the woods? Ideally near the original loading of Norma. That means 200 gr at 1150+ or 180 gr at 1200+. Apart from the usual Buffalo Bore and Underwood Ammo (which are rarely available - if at all - where I live), I want to know what brand to look for that isn't just a strong 40 S&W (or else I'll just grab a 40).

Hmmm I’m not too sure what brands you have access to, but some commonplace stuff would be Hornady 175gr Critical Defense, Federal 180gr Trophy Bonded, and Parabellum Research (PBR) 200gr Hornady XTP (1,250/fps). Those are some off the top of my head, and I peeked at my 10mm stash 😅

I usually find most of the major brands like Federal, Remington, Winchester, Sig and Hornady. Doesn't stop them from being amusingly expensive (again, the price of making firearms a heavily regulated industry). A month ago I bought some Sig V-Crown JHP 230 gr 45 ACP at $3 per cartridge. are nearly $5 a pop. Really hard to test them enough to be assured of cycling.
There are some cheaper brands though. PMC and Magtech for instance. Not all of them are good - but at least the Magtech 230 gr 45s do decently in most ballistic tests.
