I haven't heard anything but it is cool when they bring back discontinued swords/daggers. I have always liked the coustille myself.

Oh cool, that dagger looks like an ideal design for me except for the cross. If it was straight I would buy that in a heartbeat. Well I'm kind if justifying this... ideally it would have a type 2 cross and hollow ground blade with fuller.. but one could always do the other work after one impulse buys the dagger..

As I understand it, Windlass never stopped making any of these swords. Museum Replicas discontinued them from their lineup and they became hard to find. But most could still be ordered from a few retailers, such as Irongate Armory.
It is an interesting development that KoA is starting to carry these, making them much more accessible to more people in the US and other places.

I just noticed this, too. I have all of them except the Sword of St. Michael. Not interested in that one, but its cool to see KoA offering them. That Arbedo is something else! Love mine.
Theophilus, the guard on the Coustille really isn't terribly downturned. I'd call it subtle or slight. Nice, light, fast big dagger/shorty short sword.

Ordered the Arbedo. It's an 18c light. Underpriced for the market. I have an old one that was purposefully weathered to go in a display. Make that one available 100.00 shipped.
The aftermarket on old Windlasses has dried up in the last year or so. Nobody had these in stock. Nice to see them back, I'd like to nominate some rapiers for Xmas....

That price is just low enough to be irresistible.

Indeed. Just paid for the Principe that was on sale here, last week. Had to get me a new Arbedo to go along with it.

Considering it has been twenty years, the pricing is a bargain. The Towton was one at the top of my lists back then. While tempted for one of each, the combined price would steer my own lists elsewhere but what a good opportunity for the new and more tenured collectors.
I agree their old rapier models would appeal. I would buy a replacement espada ropera if they did it again. That is one I haven't seen continued abroad.

I am rather ignorant of Windlass and its history. Are these new additions at KoA old models made by Windlass several years ago, or are they new? They look rather solid: good peen, nice fittings, distal tapers, nice profiles. What exactly is the issue with the availability of Windlass swords? Was Museum Replicas, more or less, the primary distributor and they had a falling out or something?

Windlass has a history of discontinuing swords, whether good or bad. Here today gone tomorrow.

KOA had a Cadsand Sword for sale not too long ago. It's sold now. I have to admit, there are Windlass swords I cannot imagine ANYONE buying, but they are few and far between. I does freak me out when Windlass discontinues the European Sword, but keep selling, for example, the Sword of Santa Casilda. (Hmmm...Maybe they DO make some "total crap..." Never mind.

Different tastes, I'd say. I have both the European and St. Casilda. I knew what I was getting with the former, but was very pleasantly surprised by the later. Dare I say, it has a little distal taper. Or, at least mine does. Handles like a dream. The cross leather strap wrap of the hilt--where are you going to find that in the sub-$350 range? (you could do one yourself, I suppose, but this is excellent for some one like me who doesn't have the skill or patience to make one) Cherry on the top is that its based on a very well preserved historical example. I totally dig mine. People like different things, though. I also saw that Cadsand Sword at KoA. I like the uniqueness of it, but found the pommel and guard to be pretty ugly. So, yeah, all our mileages vary.
