These short hangers where used by the Swiss police on regular duty, from the mid 19th century until the early 20th century. Just wanted to share some pics and stats.

Are these meant to be the same model?
The POB difference & weight seems surprising.

Very nice hangers. I’m still enjoying mine.
Was the P guard bent on the first one? I didn’t notice that before.
Just curious.

Are these meant to be the same model? The POB difference & weight seems surprising. These variations in antiques of the same model are not uncommon, from my experience. Same can be said for some repros, too. Look at the stats for my CS English Backswords, for example. 1,1 mm difference at the foible, 84 g difference in weight and 2,5 cm further out pob on the heavier one between two exemplars.

I can’t remember having noticed a bend on either one. Hard to tell from the pics, I think. I hope it wasn’t on your one!?

Mine was the other one. Even after much handling, I have never found any damage at all. Not even any blemishes, really. Just some minor wear on the hilt indicating a long service life with conscientious maintenance. Over here in Florida, old Swiss police hangers like this one seem to be quite rare. Too bad, really. It is beautiful and well-crafted, and a great civilian sidearm.
