Hello! I was recently told by the wife to move the hobby elsewhere from the house? Wasnt sure the shed was a good place so I deceided to enclose the roof space to an attic. Not sword customisation I know, but customisation for swords! Made almost completely with upcycled materials (bought screws and a replacement phillips bit) so cost was pretty much just time. Although it looks rough, its completely sealed barring an extration fan and has a moisture proof outer lining, inner linings are a mix of carpet, ply and linen. I havnt moved everything in yet, but the idea is there.

Very nice collection you have here, and some nice modifications. That rustic wood saya looks very cool. I also like what you (?) did to the tsukas below. Nice color schemes btw.
BTW are these three small ones Victorinox folders?

She told you instead of asked you! It's your house as much as hers...what was her problem with having it where you did. haha, well... my wife puts up with a LOT! three young boys and a fourth 15yo minded man (me) and with cars, toys, tools, swords, tsuba, bows, experimental weapon components, etc lying around the house she was at breaking point. Its not all bad moving my stuff, cleaned up the house good, and now we have three 'rooms' in the roof space its pretty much added another 33% more house for me to fill up. The pictures above are of one room, its the second biggest, the big one is filled with my car/racing paraphernalia and the third smaller one is filled with a sempr!ni load of Lego (and a three more swords stands). Id have lined the whole roof, but Im trying to be cautious of the areas that cannot take load. Don't get me started on the sheds out back.

This is awesome, very nice work there.
Also, I am jealous.
Jealousy is a sin isn't it?

Damn. That's one heck of a collection. And that's amazing work on the tsubas. Would you do commission?

Damn. That's one heck of a collection. And that's amazing work on the tsubas. Would you do commission? Thank you Djinnobi, I have done about three commission of exact specification and I must admit the pressure was a little too much, generally people will say,'id like this' and then Id just make what they want, but with my own style and finish. I can handle that and the product works out better as there is no pressure and I can use my own methods/materials/finishes. so id have to say, probably no. I do stuff for my fellow dojo members, but again, not to a spec. I am thinking about listing some of my collection to ebay (just Tsuba at this stage) but I need to figure some stuff out first. Im guessing Ill probably just list it as 'buy it now' and start them at about $50 each... not sure whether anyone will buy at that price, but it will be a starting point to judge I guess. Ive looked into local stall style markets here, but the regulations for sellers are a little on stiff side

Sorry if I'm basically just asking the same thing again, but in a new way. But would you consider making a moon themed one? Your style. Your direction. And if you ever feel in the mood to make it, I'll buy it
Don't think of it as a commission. Rather an inspiration or idea for a next project

Hmm, I wrote a long winded reply about the coincidences I have had today and it didn't post for some reason... anyway, as one of the two big coincidences of today, I am actually right in the middle of making my first moon themed Tsuba! I have the shape and nakago cut, the theme is drawn in, Im still working on the finish in my head. I will post in the future once complete.... and if it turns out ok ;-)

Hello,
Well, Im trying to sell off my first lot of practice/experimental Tsuba to make some more room, but mostly to finance more Tsuba/sword making projects. I've started advertising on ebay, but its a bit more long winded than I thought. Pretty much, I've found out that new sellers are quite restricted! (probably a good thing I suppose) I can only advertise within Australia until I have 10 positive seller feedbacks and I can only list 10 items at any one time. I assume this increases with more +feedback. My brother inlaw in the USA says he can view the ads and has the option to buy, but not having gone through the exercise, Im not sure the purchase would go through? and I don't know what happens with the shipping component either. If anyone knows more about this, please let me know! Im a bit disappointed as from my own personal experience, the sword scene is infinitely less popular in Aus, than anywhere else in the world and the whole point of me choosing ebay was to get a larger audience outside Aus.
If anyone is interested, I can probably pm the link to my ebay page as I don't think the rules let me post it here, my ebay Australia name is hobbieguysteve06 if you are good with the searches. Id appreciate to know if I am wildly overpricing my stuff (in $AUD) or in the general ballpark.

I love tsubas as works of art. There is a jeweler friend of mine who casts tsubas in bronze as pendants, and they look rather amazing. There is something iconic about them, don't you think?

Absolutely, antique Tsuba, it is art with a physical purpose and function. I admire paintings, but there is no physical experience to them, they have hung on a wall and seen people, a Tsuba on the other hand, they have been out and about, seen things, experienced things, they have life on multiple levels. I try to mount all my made Tsuba for this reason, but the experience will never be the same. I treat all my antique Tsuba as art, I display it, admire it and wonder on it daily. I like the previously mounted pieces just that little bit more. Does your friend have a website? I am truely interested in pendant sized Tsuba. Id love to see it, Id likely be interested in buying also
