Got the guard fitted to the Windlass Shashka blade that I plan to either make a Ordynka saber or Karabela saber from. I do not really know which saber I will make but I do have to admit I like the clean looks and aesthetics of a wooden Karabela saber grip and the different ways I could carve the hilt which I plan to make from dark walnut from a fallen tree that has been dried and cut up for firewood. The blade would really be correct and suited to either type of saber tho. What do you guys think I should do for the hilt? I would like to see your suggestions. I know this Shashka mod idea has been floated around on here and I kind of want to show you guys how it would look. The guard did end up with a little rattle but not much and it barely has a gap between the tang and guard but that is ok I will just shim the rear langets with some wedges to make it solid before I add the grip and Epoxy and pin the thing together.

I really like that cross, very elegant in its simplicity.

It was a cross guard for a scimitar or kilij with ornate knobs at the tips but I cut those off to make it shorter and to look more like a short guard on a European saber. I like the way it came out too it will look good when I hit it with some steel wool to polish it.
