Hey guys, Maybe this is old news but I just found one of my favourite fantasy swords on reliks.com, the price is reasonable to. The Slayer of Kings! www.reliks.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=1467I need to save up and buy this before it gets discontinued. Bloody hell never mind, it is already discontinued. I hate windlass sometimes *sigh*

What? I've never seen it before. It looks too good to be true. I wonder if the guard is solid cast, or some crappy wallhanger pot metal.
If it was ridgey didge it would be AWESOME!

Bren: I think it was a ridgey didge mate, I love that blade, might have to get it made at some point, the fittings would be expensive.

For the price I doubt that it would be very robust and stout. DSA charges the same price for their beaters which are known to be very tough.

It came out at least 4 years ago, but did not sell very well.

"Ridgey Didge" is a slang term for Genuine, or The Real Deal. "Fair Dinkum" is another word we use for it. Are those terms unheard of to y'all?

"The Real Deal" usually works pretty well to describe something as the real deal.

Well, 'ridgey didge' was unkown to me... and the only reason I know of 'fair dinkum' is due to Outback Steakhouse. Ya know, there was always something about a woman with an Aussie accent, drives me crazy. LOVE it. Oh, sorry, went of track there for a second... heh.

Well if you look at windlasses other movie swords like the Beowulf, it had plastic fittings and the oath ring broke and was plastic as well, Soooo, I would think that the king slayer is just a wall hanger...........IMO............SanMarc.

I would have to disagree with you about the Beowulf sword, Sanmarc. I have not handled it personally (and you may have, so you could very well have a more detailed understanding of it), but it appeared to be solid in construction as far as Windlass goes. Yes, the "ivory" band was plastic, but it's not a bad material to use to replace ivory. Could you imagine if they had used the genuine material? I also do not think the plastic breaking posed a safety concern so much as an aesthetic one.
Windlass doesnt build great swords, but they're at least always usable. I would bet that this one is no different. It's probably heavy as hell and unwieldy, but when sharpened I'm sure it would get through light targets just fine.

I heard an update, that windlass is using a metal ring now, not saying the Ivory/plastic was bad, just the ring and rivet/ring where plastic, the sword is a good blade from windlass, same as their Dark age sword and the sword of Odo. With a little work..... But my comment for the King sword, is it looks like it's just a wall hanger, I would not want to take it out side and cut any thing short of wet tissue paper, Handle might brake...SanMarc.
