Got a very nice surprise in the post--delivered to my eagerly awaiting hands straight from Stark Industries:
1 sbg custom katana
first impressions--she sang out beautifully with the first cutting stroke and is suprisingly 'present' and reasuringly weighty in hand but this does not detract from her impressive handling. Ill have to get use to this style of blade over my Ronin 14 or my Unokubi but it's an impressive slicer Im also impressed with the tsuka--more in a full review.
1 ronin tanto (matched pair to the Ronin Brides Sword)
first impressions--I've offhanded small knives and daggers, even a cold steel tanto while my primary hand was occupied...with a sword and this tanto is impressive for its size, weight and execution of design. Ronin makes some solid gear folks! This is one sturdy little battlelord that sits snugly in my obi and is quick to leap to hand. She's also got a fantastic slowly undulating hamon (pics to follow)
Not only are these swords lovingly cared for, the arrived cleaned and freshly oiled. They sufferend no damage from the trip and they came in pretty good time using standard postal delivery. I did notice the yellow sticker that said "Opened By CBSA" so I can only assume they were so impressed by the contents that they repacked them better than ANYTHING I've ever seen get 'inspected' by our lads of protection at the border.
Moreover, tonystark had to deal with my payment terms (completed early) and my imposed shipping delays, thereby cluttering up his mantle and home with extra sharp and pointies...he was patient and his photos and description match exactly what was sent. Did I mention the sword bags in the box? He didn't mention them but there they were--both tightly wrapped in their bags, then bubblewrapped, then paperwrapped then extra paper stuffed in all the voids. Now if that ain't good packing and repacking by customs (they probably opened it, said "Yup, Swords Eh?' and closed it back up cause I can't imaging them repacking anything this well...
Master tonystark ... Thank you for a fantastic deal and a great kat. That tanto is a gorgeous little blade (little? ha, as deadly as anything else eh?) Your patience as I figured out where and how to get these guys up to me was very well appreciated and your communication, pics and history of the items was very impressive. I am looking forward to our next set of dealings!
To anyone looking for a fantastic blade or two, just ask tonystark
Look forward to some serious reviews in the next little bit--there are more coming
Cheers!
Keith
