It's the steel on the inside that counts.

Nice looking piece, but I wouldn't do any serious cutting with it. I've seen these Pakistani blades on eBay, and some of the tangs are pretty skinny. Does the blade have any markings?

How much did you shell out for it? Pretty common Pakistani made sword. Usually marketed as a gladius of some sort.

They sent me one of these in one of their random boxes a couple years ago.
I can tell you that it's not half bad for what it is, which is cheap Pakistani 'damascus', yes. However, I did cut a few bottles with mine and it looks to be fairly well put together. Handles quite well, actually. The sheath is a joke but it held the blade fairly well regardless of cardboard-like quality.
I'm curious how much you paid as well... I sold mine for $30 or so on craigslist.

Also- it's peened, if I recall correctly. That kind of impressed me.

Sometimes I want to own these things because they are pretty. They do have aesthetic value, but it's really subjective. I have a few pieces that never get used for cutting and only hang on a wall.

I have a couple of blades like this I plan to hilt for various fantasy styles.
One is pretty terrible. The other actually has a pretty darned nice spring temper.
For the price. You could have done worse. ☺️

That blade has some fun characteristics to it, far from a bad choice for a display piece. Handle looks pretty sleek too.

I have a few pattern blades from Pakistan. They have really nice hilts and I am alright with them as they are all under 12 inches in blade length. Majority of knives are stainless steel anymore. Got a few fixed blade knives from my Dad's house recently and they were all carbon steel and made in the US by companies that now import.....
The Pakistan ones I bought, you can see the tang in the grip (sandwiched).
