My favorite band. If Angus (the sole remaining member of the classic lineup) decides to soldier on, I hope it's not in the form of a new studio album under the name AC/DC...that died with Malcolm. Maybe call it Axl/DC or Angus and friends. If he is hell bent on making a new AC/DC album, at least record it with Brian, Cliff, Phil and then tour with whoever the hell you want. I'd love to hear an album called "Angus Does The Blues".

My personal line is semiauto, Andi, but you might not be directing the question to me. You become a danger to self, family, society with negligible or no benefits defensively when damage potential increases. Congers up images of Commander Kong on that bomb at the end of "Dr. Strangelove". WAAAAHOOOO! Major Kong Yup, it was Major. What a movie. Complete with the "Mine Shaft Gap" concept.

Semantics! Semantics are a choice of words. Ideology is the philosophy of use, or intent. Wittgenstein might take issue with whether that's a distinction without a difference. "Just sayin'." (No, er, pun intended.) ;)

With heaping helpings of all the blues and early R 'n' R greats, and as you know the Young brothers were wildly enamored with Chuck Berry, BB King, etc... Malcolm once said in Rolling Stone magazine that many bands play Rock music, but only they (AC/DC are technically described as Hard Rock), the Stones and a few others played Rock & Roll, the Roll part giving the music a "swing" feel. Now, ya ain't gonna "swing" if ya don't got the blues knocking around in that tune somewhere. Lemmy (RIP) of Motorhead also described his music as Rock & Roll rather than heavy speed or thrash metal (which they HEAVILY influenced with their hybrid punk/rock/metal). Were we talking about guns laws...I forgot.

AC/DC play the blues, the Rolling Stones play country most of the time, Deep Purple swings, Lemmy rocked and who worries about guns laws except wimps!

(No, er, pun intended.) I quite agree, there is the philosophy of semantics. An action, in and of itself. Rather than ideology applying philosophy to coax an action, in this case the use of words. Why do we use a gun? Ideation/discuss/ponder We use guns to a,b,c,d. Philosophy/our solution Our definition of a,b,c,d. Semantics/our action in words We need a flow chart for this one?

this recent discussion reminds me how our backgrounds form our method of rationalization. in a gun restrictive but extremely violent country like mine, i would much rather the gun laws be relaxed to encourage my countrymen to arm themselves against criminals (and vigilante state agents). if i lived in a gun restrictive but peaceful country like canada, i might be quite content with some form of gun restriction because i wouldn't feel as threatened.
