Hi everyone, I just got my first sword and wanted to share my first impressions. After some research I bought a Lutel 12029, a bastard sword, about 7 months ago. I wanted a sword that could be used with 2 hand and wasn't that big. Because I have 0 experience with sword I'm going to keep this brief, just the things I noticed and liked and disliked. My thoughts when I opened the package: "wow it's big". Followed by "are pommels that big normally?" I was impressed and it looked good. After closer inspection I noticed some flaws though which I will list below. What I like about the sword: - feels solid - nice leather belt and scabbard - the guard and handle seem to fit well - looks good What I dislike: - not sharp at all. I'm not a good sharpener, it took me some hours to get it moderately sharp. Like kinda sharp enough to cut paper.Though my technique is probably off and I was slow and careful. Ps. I ordered it sharp. - edge damage at the tip. The tip was quite roughly done and the edge had chipped a bit. I Managed to repair it while sharpening luckily. - the belt I order for my waist size but it is waaaaaay too large. Not even close. -some small imperfections like the leather wrap of the handle having some gaps and the lines of the sword being off. - very little distal taper. The point of balance is good (something like 12cm) but it feels quite heavy to me. All in all I like it but not as much as I had hoped. Ps. I Will try to opload pictures from my phone if I can see how

Congrats to your first sword. You make me remember my first two swords - a gladius and a relative big viking sword - and myself also thinking "wow, is this big!". They're getting smaller over the time. A long blade, little distal taper and a good PoB means also a heavy pommel as a counterwheight and a heavier sword over all. A belt too long is at least better than one too short (unfortunately I know what I'm speaking of). Like to see pictures! ("Add Attachment" in the right upper corner)

And some more. Also a pic of the damage at the tip though it is difficult to see on the picture.

Nice looking sword - congrats! I have had a few Lutel swords over the years and they are good value. I still have 2 of them.
