I'm a sucker for symmetrical guards, now I need to have one of these! Do these ever pop up in the market? I'm still pretty new to collecting antique swords. i just bought my second 1867 last night, 190 euro + shipping. My first I paid 260 for, but that came with a short police saber. They show up every now& then, and is fairly affordable. Seen them go for €450-ish, down to 150.

Word is that they are commonly available in Europe. Like many such swords, they are hard to come by in Florida. And quite a bit more expensive here, too.

I'll keep my eye out, but yes it's a bit more difficult collecting these sabres in the US. I'm all the way in California so far from Europe!

It arrived today, and like my old one, it has a grip covering of some sort, it feels strange, pigskin maybe?

Nice pick up. I've been on a dry spell, haven't really been able to find anything lately. Still kicking myself for not grabbing a British 1803 that popped up on e-bay for $600 and sold in an hour a month ago.
