Nice work! I need to learn how to leather/cord wrap. It is on my very long list of things to learn....
How are you etching? Do you mind sharing your technique? I have been doing mustard etch's but they are not "accurate" enough. I want to learn a more precise method.

It's a little complicated to explain, but there are youtube tutorials. Basically I take a car battery charger, attach the positive lead to the head, and use the negative lead wrapped in gauze and dipped in a salt water brine. I have vinyl tape cut into whatever shape I want covering what I don't want etched, and I touch the negative lead to the exposed space.

I had a question, when you etch are you doing that before or after you patina the axe head to get that look?

I did the same thing to there Viking Hand Axe a couple days ago. Many people tried to talk me out of getting it but I did anyway and am glad I did because the thing is a beast after I shaped the handle to fit the eye correctly and stripped burned and then linseed oiled the handle. I did not go with runes tho because I do anything from a Hungarian medieval impression to Viking and English soldiers so I wanted an axe that would fit a wide range of occasions.

I etch before I patina, it makes it more even after everything is said and done as well as keeps it from rusting.
Nice job vlad4th! Definately don't let people talk you out of project pieces, these axes are cheap enough to make it fully worth it! I started a shop on Etsy and I sell them now, among other items. So glad I did, it's really gratifying!
