An indo-persian tulwar of the “tegha” variation. Includes two triangle markings on both sides of the blade. Traditionally, a triangle marking was made when the tulwar would be used in three skirmishes, having two means this tulwar was used six times which can be seen from the difference in the ricasso and edge, which is a result of resharpening many times. The blade is made using kamani steel. Kamani was used to refer to the European blades by the local Indians, and is typically lacking of any patterns and has higher copper content. Kamani is more flexible than traditional Indian steel blades. The spine of the blade also has a “T” cross section along approximately two thirds of its length. The handle is a typical “Mughaliya Mutha”. There are also two metal pieces, one underneath and other above the “ghera”, which were clearly welded on fairly recently. The whole sword is very light, and the handle has an exceptionally comfortable feel for an tulwar. The tulwar is a nice little below average length, but wide bladed fighting sword. It is a typical tulwar for fighting, because of its ease of movement in your hand.

Well, it caught my attention here first. I never visit the Classifieds, I keep forgetting they exist. It's for my wallet's sake, granted...

From a PC (ie not a smartphone or tablet; alternatively, your smartphone or tablet with browser set to "desktop" mode) when you create a new post, above the text box at the right-hand corner should be a button that says "Add atachment" Click that, browse your folders, and select your files. To place an attachment inline in your post, move the cursor to where you want it and click "insert" in the attachment box. Otherwise, attachments will appear at the bottom. Option two, find a third-party image hosting service, upload the photos there, and paste the URL of your desired image between IMG tags. If all else fails, you can email them to me (PM me for address) and I'll post them up for you.
Edit: Make sure you're in the Reply page, as you won't have options on the Quick Reply box.
You should see this:
I used the same screen and the methods mentioned to add this.

That's a nice looking tulwar, and a very fair price. If I wasn't picking up loose pennies for the next two weeks plus I'd certainly pick this up. Been wanting a tulwar for ages, hard to find with a scabbard.

All the tulwars i have and have handled, have always had a scabbard. But I get my tulwars from India and ive seen that outside if india tulwars are costly but also very bad quality.

He's already made a new thread in the Classifieds, this has turned into more of a discussion thread now. At least, I'd like to see some discussion of this sword, and I know that's frowned upon in the Classifieds... I'm curious where in India you acquire swords. I know of a few sellers on eBay but I'm weary of their legitimacy.

If I hadn't just spent all my money at the MRL sale on Saturday, this would be really tempting. I've seen too many Matt Easton videos to not be tempted by a tulwar

randomnobody, im indian(canadian born) myself. I hav friends in India who sell antiques and make reconstructions. India is full of antiques, lik you literally enter someones house and he'll have a pile of tulwars all for sale. But you need to know the people cuz India is full of con artists and frauds. Knowing the languages and actually having friends and family with you helps. Otherwise I guarantee you will be scammed.

Also i only collect antique indo persian arms and armour and was selling a few pieces in my collection. Where do you guys think I can find a good place to sell these cuz i have all sorts of arms for sale (spears, tulwars, pesh kabz, axes, pattas, maces, katars). I had heard indo persian antiques are high in demand in the general sword collecting world, but i can not find a place where ppl are really ready to buy a wootz tulwar or something lik an afghan chiefs choora.
