CZ was offering the bayonet attachment (app?) years ago and I do see there are similar offering on eBay now. I'm not sure that brand recognition is of any advantage for the owner but one advantage of popular models is that, these days, there are more accessories available and it's easier to find a holster you like. A curious thing, however, is that some people think that you practically have to do something to a new gun to make it, well, better somehow or other. After all, brand new guns straight from the factory are totally inadequate, unreliable, etc., etc., etc. Right? Except maybe for Glock, which are perfection. Don't know why they keep introducing new generations of the same model, though. Maybe it makes me “boring,” but I wouldn’t buy a gun that I had to pump hundreds of dollars EXTRA into. What I tolerate with Glock is that steel night sights are a must, and with my Gen 3- 20, 21 I absolutely HAD to install a 3.5lb Ghost trigger connector. That’s about it for accessories. What’s really stupid is when people put bright slides with obnoxious cutouts, multi-colored triggers, and “competition” parts on a “carry” gun! *Sigh* To each his own I guess. Your almost describing my Walther Q5 Match. I got it hardly used for $679. What was nice is that, while near the price of a G34, your getting a competition ready firearm out of the box (complete with cutout for red dot installation), where you'd have to pay a kings ransom in after market parts to make the G34 perform equally. I must confess, I feel like James Bond every time I touch it (my gun...the Walter, not "my gun"...gulp...anyway). Now, just need a hot bond girl to come slinking up to me.

No, no, no I don’t mean an RMR cutout, I mean ridiculous slide cutouts toward the front of the slide that are for aesthetics only. As far as multicolored and looking more like a toy then a real gun, I meant something like this: www.google.com/search?source=hp&ei=ceMBW5zXMIiT0gLJy6HgAg&q=multicolored+Glocks&oq=multicolored+Glocks&gs_l=mobile-gws-wiz-hp.3..33i160.4310.10628..10962...0....186.2906.0j19......0....1.......3..0j41j0i131j0i70i249j0i10j0i22i10i30j0i13i30.4ImUxm9FkeI%3D#imgdii=dUAnZgb8hvPTKM:&imgrc=wuGtBOEVCO6HHM: or this: www.google.com/search?q=multicolored+glocks&prmd=sinv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjnjtTsmZXbAhVhjlQKHbp1BgoQ_AUIEigC&biw=768&bih=909#imgrc=sicGn2QbUBSBtM: I saw this picture and it made me laugh, so I figured I’d share it. www.google.com/search?q=multicolored+glocks&prmd=sinv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjnjtTsmZXbAhVhjlQKHbp1BgoQ_AUIEigC&biw=768&bih=909#imgrc=Py5cJwj7K75BTM: Your Q5 is awesome by the way! Only reason for cutouts on slides (aside for aesthetics) in handguns is (questionably) better balance when increasing barrel length or (clearly) porting a barrel. A possible negative could be debris getting in those cutouts if in dirty environment. Even Walther gave the goofy reason of cutouts for "cooling the barrel" (haha), like some kind of automatic rifle. Q5 (like my HKVP40 and HKVP9) would be a sweet carry or home defense gun but I still would rock the glock in SHTF. "Come on down, Denise".

Well kinda, yeah. There’s not a damn thing wrong with RMR’s, and porting is straight out necessary sometimes, but all the funky cutouts they claim are for “cooling” sometimes look like aliens made crop circles on peoples slides!!! 😉 You are totally right, debri DOES get into those decorative cutouts, and become a reason a slide blows apart on someone. Slide/barrel obstructions are no joke! I absolutely love the VP9, and have been considering the compact version, or a P30sk. You want to check out a crazy SHTF gun/caliber? Look at the Zastava M57 chambered in 7.62x25. The gun is a bloody tank, and the bullet is ballistically the love child of a .357sig. You can buy one for like $200 at MILSURP places, or even some gun stores end up with a few. The 7.62x25 can even defeat level 2 & 3 body armor! There are quite a few Youboob videos if you get bored on the throne 😁

See, it happens! Then it’s another $180 for a stock slide replacement, or upwards of $400 for a fancy pants one! SO not worth it (unless you buy it that way of course)!

I would LOVE a fully pimped out Glock competition rig, but after you put on all the bells and whistles...gulp...$1,200 or more. The aftermarket world for Glock is both a blessing (options, options) and a curse (price, price, nickel and dime).

The first two look like real pimp daddies, but the third looks almost regular...which is deceiving.

Things like that would be wasted on me. But I've always thought that engraved guns, especially large frame revolvers, were rather classy.

For some reason, that makes me think of "Blueberry Hill."
I once had two S&W Model 624s, one with four-inch barrel, the other a 6 1/2-inch barrel. Nice guns; wish I still had them, along with about 20 other guns I've owned. Well, all of them, actually. Anyway, I remember seeing a photo of an engraved Model 624 but it's super expensive by my standards to indulge in something like that. It doesn't make the gun shoot any better. But I think S&W offers engraved handguns and there's the Colt Custom Shop, too. At one time, a nickel-plated handgun was considered a good thing; a little fancy and actually rather practical, aside from the shininess of the thing.
More to the point of the thread, though, there is a good selection of grip panels for CZ pistols, some of which look pretty nice. I've owned a couple of CZ pistols and I thought they were very practical and well-made handguns, if somewhat heavier than similar plastic-framed guns. But I found that the slides were difficult to retract because there wasn't a lot of surface to grasp with my fingers. Maybe I just have a weak grasp.

I really liked Doc Holliday’s gun from the movie Tombstone, but I don’t see this gun getting much “love” for some reason. You’re not alone, I’ve heard quite a few people say that the surface area on the CZ slides doesn’t allow for the best purchase. The CZ P10c does not share that problem in the least! I’m at 400+ rounds now, and not a single malfunction of any kind. That’s even shooting 250 rounds of 124gr Czech made brass, and 150 rounds of some terrible (yet functional) 115gr Silver Bear steel cased ammo. I put some 115gr Fiocchi JHP through it, again with zero issues. Next trip I’m going to put my carry ammo, Hornady 135gr +P Critical Duty (Flexlock), through it. To put ALL my cards on the table, there are two things that need breaking in that I’ve heard some whiners call “deal breakers.” The mag release and slide release were a little tough to operate right out of the box. Now after 400+ rounds the slide release is smooth as silk, but there is a “fix” for the mag release (I just need to watch one or two YouTube videos on it. I’ll keep everyone posted on its progress though! 😁 P.S just don’t tell your P10c you’ve been ogling a P365....they don’t like that very much 😅
