So I was looking for something else last night and stumbled on this at KoA: www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=RA126&name=Devil%27s+ToothpickStraight, double edged fixed blade knife that fits my dagger tastes to a T. OTOH, it's Devil's Edge which is a) Cheap and b) a brand I have no experience with. I haven't been able to find a review of it on the web, much less here, unfortunately. Anyone have any thoughts, opinions or ability to review it? It's silly cheap ($39.95!) so even if I don't actually like it, I'm out next to nothing. Hell, a new video game is a greater & more expensive risk. Still, I wanted to find out if anyone has had any experience with it. Thanks!

For the price, I'd say go for it. But...I wouldn't trust it 100% for any hard use. Looks more like a WWII fighter than a traditional Arkansas Toothpick, but nice looking.

Yep, I'd expect a more "pointy" look for a traditional one but it seems nice. It would be a good wall hanger if it wasn't up to real use.

Not a bad price, especially if you are happy with a wall hanger if it comes to that. Personally I think there are other knives out there that live up to the name “toothpick” better. For a general overview of the quality of Devil’s Edge products go to KoA’s Devil’s Edge Manufacturer’s Page and read the reviews, most are very good.

Thanks for the thoughts. I'm going to keep my eyes open for a more traditional toothpick while I ponder this one.

Round grips are ill suited to most purposes.

If the handle was the only problem, a rasp, some sandpaper & a can of stain would solve that issue. To me, the more important question is if the blade itself was worth using for anything or not. Still considering it. Probably will for awhile before I decide to buy it or a video game instead

Yeah, I saw the Windlass. It looks like a nice one too but if I'm going to go non-traditional toothpick, I like the lines of the Devil's Edge better. Now if I could find one that looks like a miniature Oakeshott Type XV like the Randal Model 13 but at a price I could afford, well that'd be one thing. But that's not happening soon

But that's not happening soon Cold Steel MAA Arming dagger is very similar to what your describing. Very robust (at nearly 1 1/2lbs) 1090 steel but still fast due to zero POB, sharpened, slightly higher fit and finish than standard Windlass (due to being under the CS moniker), if your cool with the blued steel which protects against rust.

< checks at KoA > Pretty! That is very much in the same ballpark. Knives and swords... never enough money

They are probably from the mideast but are UK seller based. Pakistan or somewhere else. The fit and finish seem ok. There are a few youtube reviews.
The Gil Hibben Expendables toothpick is less than $100 but a single edge. Anything with a needle point, including clip blade bowies are often regarded as toothpicks. There is Bud K dagger I am thinking of but can't remember the model. A very triangular blade but with a very narrow ricasso.

Quite a hog rib tickler with that 17" blade length and narrow profile. Stab, stab, poke, poke.
