For what purpose? Non-functional and non-historical. Could work as a fantasy costume, but I can't think of any other use for it. Not being into fantasy costumes, USD260 is too much for me.

I would be careful, this listing doesn't say how thick it is or if it's hardened, there is no way to know if it would offer any protection at all. It's expensive because of the time to do the tooling and not nesaserily because the fittings and leather are of good quality. If you want it for a costume then go ahead but you can probably get something similar with less tooling much cheaper.

Steel armor, man! Leather is for larper's, cosplayers, and Japanese anime' girls.

I would say no. The tooling doesn't even look that good imo, just looks like they wanted to fill the negative space in the easiest way possible.
It has no place in history or any protective value. I would just buy whatever MRL or KoA has for larp, or go custom for leather armor instead of that thing.

It is eye catching and while arguably make perhaps a good costume, it will in no way live up to its name “armour” either from protection or a historical standpoint. If you want armour go with a combat grade of gambeson enforced with steel in the critical areas such as helmet and bracers, at least. And from there consider plate. Armour grade leather about 15 oz may work in some cases, but steel will give the most protection, assuming the gauge is sufficient.

Kult of Athena just put up a TON of Epic Armoury items in their 'new additions' section, including some nice helmets. It's some pretty good stuff for the money. Not full-on SCA style combat worthy, but for just costume wear...great! www.kultofathena.com
