Bugei Dragonfly katana. The black saya lacquer has bubbled in a number of places with veins running along the side. Only ever kept indoors in the shade. Live in the prairies so fairly dry climate. Thoughts on the cause and any kind of repair?

If I were you, depending on on long you've owned it and if you bought it straight from Bugei, there may be something they can do. I know there was a specific few runs that all suffered this type of bubbling, my peace katana also suffered from it even though all of my other blades that were housed right next to it did not. Never hurts to reach out and call to talk to a real person :) They really are lovely to deal with. If not I know people that do really nice lacquer work that don't charge an arm and a leg and whose wait times arn't long. Cheers and good luck! Sal'
