I wanted a helmet stand to display my Windlass helmet of Castille. I thought they looked fairly simple to build and found this great instructable for building one in a budget friendly fashion: www.instructables.com/id/Easy-Helmet-Stand/My helmet is larger than the instructable author's and so I used an 11 inch round award plaque and a 14 inch bannister section. I bought my supplies from Lowes and Joann's rather than Home Depot and Hobby Lobby. It was super easy to do with just a cordless drill, wood glue and some stain and very affordable. I thought I would share since it was such a bargain versus buying online.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

I've been thinking of making a couple of armor stands out of PVC pipe. An old friend of mine owns a hardware store....maybe he'll cut me a deal. Good looking helm and stand, by the way! I've been eye-balling that helm since they came out.
