So, inspired by members themagicalmark and stbwolfe, decided to remove blackening from my Acre crusader. Took some sanding pads and elbow grease but I love how it turned out, gave a lot of character to it, in my opinion. I didn't go all the way so it will have a kind of battle worn look. What do you guys think?

You made it look 10x better. I think a regrip in plain leather without any wire would look great too

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

Agreed...much better! It has that aged, original look....but that wired grip....yeah. Not that it looks BAD, just kinda out-of-place.

Looks great. I was planning on ordering the Agincourt this afternoon to take advantage of MRL’s 25% discount which ends on the 30th. The factory finish leaves questions in my mind so your post comes in a timely manner.

Looks good. I like my Bosworth blackened, but maybe i will get me an Agincourt to polish the hell out of it... ;-) Or maybe that Viking set.

I have this exact sword if anyone’s interested? I just haven’t had time for pictures yet.

That looks awesome! Also, I'm surprised by how wide the H/T underneath it is. Always thought it was a lot skinnier.

Looks really good. I have that sword and I'm very interested in doing what you have done. What grade sandpaper did you use?

I used brown scotch brite pads, not sure what the grade on those is, but later did some fixing with 1000 grit sandpaper and there was no noticeable difference, so I suppose you can use that. In any case to make sure start at some less noticeable part and see how it goes.

Or you could save the trouble and $60 and just buy the Classic Medieval Sword.

Or you could save the trouble and $60 and just buy the Classic Medieval Sword. Sure, but if he's like me who bought it and didn't like it, only two options are: put some effort and customize it to your liking or sell it at a loss to get something else... I absolutely love mine Acre now, and handle it much more, I like it's look better than I would a Classic.
