imgur.com/RDzga4hThis is on an antique I'm considering purchasing. My first thought was maybe it could be ground out, but wouldn't that also introduce a stress point at the grind mark? Perhaps it could be welded back? I know it's an antique and all but I'm still wondering how it could be fixed as I dislike having any kind of possible breaking flaws in my blades.

It isn't a casting flaw, since the blade isn't cast. Doesn't look like a lamination flaw, but rather like a crack. Maybe the blade was bent very badly?
I wouldn't bother trying to fix it (unless the blade completely broke, and maybe not even then). You could weld it, but that will do ugly things to the heat treatment, and leave it worth even less as an antique. If the crack doesn't go too far across and down (and as far as I can see in the photos, it doesn't, but it might look worse IRL), it shouldn't be too fragile for dry handling (I wouldn't cut with it).

Good thoughts. I wouldn't want to cut with it either, just given it's nicety and model to it. A crack seems much more likely, however I've never seen a bent sword crack, but that's purely anecdotal and I'm open the idea. Yeah, it seems rather small, and while I wouldn't try for cutting it's just a quirk I guess, same way I dislike swords never meant for usage either. Feels weird having an item that may shatter.
