Bought a new rifle last week and it should be here in a couple of days time ! Bought myself a nice pedersoli frontier rifle 50 cal flintlock. Really wanted an Indian trade musket but this one came up first. Can't wait !

Love the old stuff. Congratulations, find a good spot on the wall to hang it.

I occasionally get a hankering for a wheellock but that won't happen, even though it would be a perfect match with a mortuary-hilt sword. I don't even know if there are any being made, but I wouldn't be surprised. Just about everything else still is, if not in large quantities.

Very Nice. I've fired a percussion cap muzzle loader many years ago but never a flintlock. I have pieces of our old family muzzle loader (flintlock I think but don't really remember) which was a pretty small caliber and not very long, maybe a squirrel gun or something. Not really enough parts left to put back together though. I'd like to get a flintlock or kit to make one similar to what you have one day. I love the sound and the smoky muzzle blast. Nice pics! What do you hunt with that, deer?

What ever I can lol. Probably take it out after feral goats once grape harvest is over. And no doubt I'll be shooting rabbits and foxes with it as well. I don't have much access to deer over here, they're around, but not like the USA

We have deer wandering around our yard fairly often, but no feral goats. If I was a hunter I could shoot 'em from the back deck. Do you have to take out a second firearm in case the animal is only wounded and not killed (figuring it might take too long to reload and finish off a wounded animal before it gets away)?

I hunted deer with a muzzleloader years ago. It was a lot more fun than centerfire rifle. You learned real fast to be very careful with your shot, because it would be 45-60 seconds before you take a second shot. On the other hand, a .50 caliber lead ball makes a pretty big wound channel, and the ball almost always went clear through. Don't underestimate the killing power of those old smokepoles... they hit HARD!
