Was thinking of cutting it to make a knife Handle just don't know what material it is don't want to ruin it

Is the inside the same material? If it is, look for a grain to determine if it's wood or not. If you think its bone, be very careful cutting as bone likes to crack and splinter.

Yes it's all one there is no grain however one the surface with a magnifying glass I can see specks of crystals? On the surface and it polishes up to a really soft and smoth finish

Is it one piece, or 2 or more pieces? If you do cut it, and it IS bone, use a hand-saw. Bone/antler dust is nasty stuff.

Also, it should look porous below the surface if that's visible at all on the interior. I had a box made of whale bone and you could see where the surface wore at one spot a honeycomb like structure on the interior of the bone.

On a side note, it is rather pretty. It would be a shame to cut it up just for knife handles, especially when bone handle scales aren't expensive or anything.
