Buds has good prices but I found a store that beats his prices. Sportsman Outdoor Superstore. Got my S&W Performance Center Shield and my Savage Stealth there.

Hmmmm I’ll have to check them out, thanks for the tip! www.gunprodeals.com has also got good prices, but only if you are paying outright and don’t use layaway.

bluetrain- I had only seen Colt making 1911’s in .38 super until a year and a half ago. Rock Island is making a 1911 in .38 super, that by all accounts is very, very well made. I’ve actually been eyeballing the double stack 10mm that R.I makes. It looks AWESOME! I know some people consider any 1911 that’s not Para to be sacrilegious, but their double stack is well worth the second look! Back to .38 super, I think that ballisticly speaking it’s superior to the 9mm in all but price and availability. The only thing to really “top” it (at the time) was .357 magnum! Crocc- Paul spent a year in jail after a defensive shooting that he was later exonerated on. Him and his wife were camping and these two jerks started trouble with them. Long story short, one of the idiots tried to hit his wife with the pickup truck they were in, and Paul was forced to shoot him. He’s a great guy too! We’ve emailed back and forth a few times, and I’m letting him borrow some of my firearms to use in his videos. His channel has LOTS of information, about hunting, ammo and gun reviews, and even concealed carry. Awwww too bad you had to sell your Colt, those nickel plated 1911’s are works of art! I concur, it’s pretty hard to find much in the way of anything, selection-wise, for .38 super. More’s the pity, it’s a GREAT round!! If I had the money, I think I’d pick up a Coonan 1911 (.357mag), but I may just buy a Sig Fastback Nightmare Carry (.357sig) cause it’s much less expensive, and in stock more often than the Coonan. I’ve watched all his videos actually (most multiple times) and even tried to look for those case documents. Pretty amazing what he was able to do with his rifle. As far as I can tell from newspaper reports, it was just the one guy that messed with them. And funny you should mention the RIA 38 Super, because that’s what mine was :p I got it for less than $400 but sold it to buy a 22 TCM Tac Ultra. The Colt in my possession is my father-in-law’s 45 ACP 80s series. Rarely use it to be honest. I prefer my RIAs because they have better sights.

Crocc- There were two guys staying at the campground that Paul and his wife (in different spots of course) were staying at. They stopped at Paul’s spot and one guy started with them, so yes you are right, but there were two guys physically there. It was a bad situation all around, and he was forced to rely on his military training to save his wife’s life. If he hadn’t had the skills he did, SHE would have been the one who died that night. Scary stuff, but a strong reminder why constant training is of the utmost importance! I don’t blame you for buying Rock Island, they include a LOT of “extra’s” that would normally cost a buyer quite a bit more $$$ on top of the purchase price. The 10mm Ultra FS has stuff like fiber optic front sight, commander hammer, skeletonized trigger....etc. Plus they are made really well, considering the low price point! I’ve read several articles about the 22 TCM Tac Ultra, and it’s gotten some pretty high praises. Great choice! I was saying to bluetrain that I’ve been drooling all over their double stack 10mm, and it likewise comes fully loaded (and not just with 16+1 rounds of 10mm!). It is DEFINITELY worth a second look if anyone’s a fan of 10mm!!

I look at a concealed carry gun as a very close shooting situation and not a prolonged gunfight. I want something powerful in a little hand cannon. If you don't panic and place 2-.357 rounds at point blank range, that will be enough. Of course, there are many different rounds that can get the job done. I have a somewhat different view. In my mind, concealed carry is similar to the seatbelt in a car; an emergency device which is always in place but hopefully never used. But also like the little toolbox in the storage area; I don't know exactly what emergency I might need it for, so I want it to be as flexible in use as possible, while still fitting comfortably enough in it's spot to be there at all times. If the emergency ever comes, I expect there would be a decent possibility that there may be more than a single threat, so capacity figures into my choice of what to carry. If the situation should ever arise, I expect I may do no more than default to my lowest level of training mastery (which isn't all that high) and would expect some panic to be involved. Reasonable opinions vary and people should obviously carry what they are comfortable with. For me, the P365 would have fit about perfectly into the spot I mentally have for a carry gun. Agreed. Multiple attackers, someone hopped up on drugs, shooter with a long gun who in two seconds is going to look your way. Many variables, and two shots, or even six, may just not be enough. That's why military and police don't generally carry revolvers anymore. They aren't as versatile.
