Totally not trying to exacerbate the DSA controversy, but quick question to Gunnar since he seems to be the owner that speaks up the most, what kind of stress testing have your swords gone through? Have you cut with them? If so, what materials did you cut? And how did everything hold up? Most I ever did with a blade was cut down a dead sappling with a windlass hungarian. Got a few scratches and the guard loosened a tad, but besides that it took it like a champ. I happen to own a DSA 5 lobed Viking, and I've put it through it's fair share of abuse. I've cut into big bits of wood before, purposely messed up cuts just to see what would happen, and even used it to help cut up an old bed I was chucking away. It held up pretty damn well, the only thing that happened was I slightly bent the blade, Although soon straightened it out.

Sorry, know that that question was aimed at Gunnar, just thought I'd share my experience.

Elbrittania I'll be honest and say I don't do heavy cutting mainly just water bottles. The Eindride is just to pretty to beat up, I did do some water bottles even a two gallon one for the review I did on it but that's it. The Hema five lobe Viking I just picked up after I put an edge on it I will do some cutting with it. A picture of it disassembled.

Thanks for the info and honesty. I know what you mean, I have some swords I cant bring myself to cut with and others that I'm happy to hit trees with.

Darksider, a couple other displays I've built. Click on picture to enlarge. Oh wow. Those are incredible. I Love that Gladius between those pillars. And all the those Viking swords look amazing. Am very jealous. Brilliant Job.

DSA sloppiness wouldnt bother me if the prices were way lower. When you buy a $200 sword, you expect some corners to be cut. When you buy a $700 sword, you expect something pretty damn refined. This is not about sloppyness, its about lying. That fittings are obviously some kind of weak aluminium or pot metal. And its only an addition to an evergrowing list of issues. Everybody in the sword world has to realize what kind of businessmen they are. Good for you with your intent and efforts at getting to the truth. I could envision someone buying a sword of questionable materials and it falling apart when used in defense of hearth and home. More than a potential wall hanger ripoff, A potential tragedy. Good luck.

Some people just won't let it die. Hey Coldnapalm what ever, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. No one is forcing you to buy DSA swords so don't buy them. If you're just looking for an argument look elsewhere because there are a lot of other people here I would rather spend my time talking to. Did I show you my beautiful DSA Eindride ? Your displays are awesome. Really like the little wolves, they rock. Hope to do something similar someday (and give you credit for inspiration)

I need to step my display game up. This is the most planned out I've got so far.

Nothing wrong with simple sword and flag displays, I do them too. Sure does take up a lot less room.

Terricus try to find a thread on this forum that doesn't get off the original subject. As long as everyone goes along with it it's not a problem. Sometimes it keeps a thread from dying of loneliness. Some threads do get a little heated at times but as long as there's no name calling or threats being made that's usually not a problem. You will find that two members can be butting heads on one thread on one day and the next day be joking and having a good conversation on another thread. Our monitors are pretty good at knowing when it's time to put an end to a thread that is getting out of control.
Some people tend to take a difference of opinion personal and they shouldn't do that. That's why we were all given our own brain to think with. Differences of opinions can make for more interesting conversations. As for the member who asked for instructions on how to delete his account, if you click on his name you will see that four days later he's still here.
You are right that sometimes people seem to want to throw gas on a heated thread that has cooled down. So what octane gas are you using ? We got off the heated part of this thread and on to friendlier topics but you seem to want to fire up the heat. Go along with the friendlier topic they're more fun. Besides I did post pictures that had some DSA swords in them so it's still somewhat on topic. Oh and by the way, the days of the warrior of the swords are gone, unfortunately.

A lot of metaphors being used.
Anyway, lately, I been just not participating in threads where it looks like people are not going to agree on anything. You had the right idea initially: grab some popcorn and just read. Everyday I feel that heated topics are just less and less worth participating in.
And don't worry, I been guilty of getting pulled into topics in a much more heated way than I wanted to be. More than once. But there is a lot this forum has to offer and many amazing members here. Stand up people for sure
