I have a Windlass with a twisted pommel but for what I paid for it on Deal of the Day back when it was 50% off I can live with it. Then I got a Windlass gladius that the blade was a 1/4 inch off center and even at 50% off I had to send it back. I just got a Hanwei lowlander that the guard was at about a 70 degree angle to the blade rather then 90 degree. A blind man could see it. Luckily it is not peened so it was easy to fix. The blade on one side of the tang was about a 1/4 inch lower than the other side which I cut off. Also had to make metal spacers to take up the gap between the tang and the guard. I was going to do a review showing the before and after pictures but my old computer crashed take the pictures with it. ALL companies can have some problems, most of the stories you hear about DSA are from back when they were in the price range of Windlass and Hanwei but just won't die.

The issue I have with the witchking specifically is that the grip is is thin that I'm worried about the tang being a tiny worm under there

Yep it's not going to be real wide the same way any companies long narrow grip swords are. My Hanwei Lowlander tang isn't real beefy either. If you look at DSA's video you can see several bare blades on the work bench. Some are beefy and some are not depending on the sword. You can't put a 1 1/2 inch wide grip over a 2 inch wide tang.

The point waaaaaas you can't expect to find a wide tang in a narrow grip. If the sword you choose has a skinny grip it's going to have a skinny tang. Choose whatever numbers you want to use, skinnier goes in skinny. Now don't make me have to explain this again because,

2" is really wide for a tang, a 1 1/2" grip will never fit!

I've never had a problem with DSA, had a few over the years and still got a couple but I find now with the price rise, add customs fees and postage they don't meet my expectations for the $ value, I know Holg has had a few lemons from them but for me they were ok, just not something I would buy now.

imho dsa has some of the best "looking" fantasy pieces you can find production wise, they look far far superior to the windlass fantasy line and most non customs, its when you dig deeper and u see all the negatives underneath the sexy fantasyness that really turns me away from them. I hope they get their sht together in the next few years and stays on the tried and true path without any bs and I might even get one of their newer fantasy models at full price, On the topic of the witch king tho, that grip is really really long, and really really thin, so idk how thick the actual tang can really be under there, i thank @theincredibleholg for having the balls to yolo this one and look underneath so that the rest of us dont have to. Bless you dude and hopefully u get a nice blade and not a lemon

Actually the order has been cancelled when i confronted KOA with the advertised "steel pommel and crossguard"; i mentioned in communication that i was gonna check out this stuff and they kinda backed out... we agreed to cancel the order.

it seems a shame that koa cancelled the order. if the sword did indeed turn out flawed it would be dsa getting the blame anyway, not koa.

Actually i cancelled the order after reading Deepbluedaves comment on the fittings and KOA kinda bobbing and waving on behalf of the fittings material too. No point in pointing out the obvious...
