Has anyone added a grip ring/spacer after receiving a peened sword?
I have seen some that are flush with the grip and some that set on top of grip.
Let's say you have an Albion Baron or Mercenary and you want to add a grip ring/spacer. Can this be a simple compressing the ring down on the grip or does the grip need to be modified to add the ring/spacer?

A spacer is, by definition, a thing put between two other things to fill or create space. So yes, for that you need a two-piece grip. On the other hand, you can also achieve the same look with a ring fitted on top of the grip, somewhat like the sheet brass bolsters on most shashqa or similar things. PS. ...Although if you want it to be flush with the rest of the grip you'll of course have to cut a channel in the grip core for it to rest in.

Thanks guys for comments. I was thinking of a thin metal ring that I could just glue and compress over existing grip.....and or find a metal strip with small "prongs" on one side that would dig into grip and hold it in place.

Would need a metal strip/ring with opening and bendable enough to put around grip, yet hard enough not to bend when gripped.
.....or a two piece ring that snaps in place?
.....now I am thinking a jeweler might have something that would work?

If the pommel already was in place, I would solder a ring to the tang (from two halves). Then add a wooden section on both sides.

Those are all possibilities, although personally I'd go for a new grip. It'd likely turn out to be less work, ultimately.
