Here is a video from this afternoon's cutting session where I performed a series of cuts on a Mugen Dachi tatami mat with a falchion and buckler. The falchion is the custom Elmslie type F1a falchion made by Lyndle Driggers, using detailed specifications provided by James Elmslie. Falchion & Buckler Cutting video

Yes, it does! I sent the sword back to Lyndle and he ground the blade a lot closer to James Elmslie's specs and now it cuts amazingly well. The sword weighs more than 2 ounces less than it did when I first received it and the distal taper is much closer to that of original period falchions.

I would like to make you on to, but first I have to get permission from Aikidoka and James Elmslie's. I told them I would not use their specs. With that danm wide tip these are a semprini to forge and grind.

I have no problem with you making more of them. I just asked James and he said he has no problem with you using his specs as long as you give him credit for it. I'll PM you his exact response, but yes you are welcome to make more of them

And for those not aware, James Elmslie also makes high end reproductions of these swords based off of his research. Here's his website: www.elmslie.co.uk/index.phpAnd here is a photo of a Cluny falchion that he is working on as we speak:

Well guess I can make another one. Would prefer to do one of the other Elmsile styles.

Nice work! I need to start including the buckler in cutting myself.
I mean I also need to start including my buckler. Hopefully not in cutting myself.
