There is so much to be thankful for this year, simplest, first, and foremost being alive. Have to have that. Aside from that, the thing I'm most thankful for this year is that my mother has mostly recovered from a serious knee operation, and has regained most of her mobility. I have a few hopes for in 2018 that are work-related. I'm hoping for more hours and more help in my department. And, if I can't get them, I hope to find a better job that is perhaps more career-orientated. As for swords I'm hoping to acquire in 2018, I'm going with the upcoming Ronin Katana Alexandria Sword. I already have an Albion Alexandria on order. If both turn out to my liking, I might keep the Albion as-is, but make the Ronin in to my long-desired and dreamed version of Turin Turambar's Gurthang. This would involve removal of the Arabic text on the Ronin, a lot of bluing/darkening of the entire sword, and the addition of a few small runes. Thanks to the site for the Giveaway, and those who contributed prizes. Best wishes to all!

Odd years usually are not that great, but this year wasn't too bad...I am thankful for my wonderful family, especially my wife, who not only supports this habit, but loves to partake as well. I also got a ton of work finished on our cabin in the mountains, got a new roof on the house, and managed to become lead teacher in my school. Next year I am hoping to finish the attic work on the house, finish out a rough year with students, and maybe pick up a spatha. Really like the Del Tin Cavalry Spatha from KOA.

I am truly and deeply thankful that my wife made a full and complete recovery from spinal fusion surgery. It was, of course, a months-long endeavor, but after months of physical therapy, painful struggle and a thankfully a lack of infections or other "complications," she and we have our lives back again. Oh, and here's a pointy sharp thing I hope to acquire soon:

I'm grateful for my family's health. Only been a few trips to the hospital, none of which involved broken bones, stitches, dislocations, or suchlike. For 2018 I'm hoping that this continues. Also hoping I'll be able to start training in rapier and get back into sparring. It's been too long. As for what's on my wishlist, this just jumped on sbg-sword-store.sword-buyers-guide.com/product768.htmlAlso really like the look of the new ronin medieval with the fishtail pommel.
