guess ill go first Something I personally am thankful for in 2017 is that I found a job over the summer and managed to get enough money to last till just about now. The reason I am thankful for this is that I have never had a quote on quote real job where I was not coddled or treated differently because it was acquired either via recommendation of close friends or by family. This allowed me to gain valuable life experience and truth be told I feel much better for it. I know this probably is not that big a thing to be thankful for, but I would like to thank my boss for giving me the opportunity to learn how the real world works and for not firing me when I screwed up the numbers on my first insurance form. In 2018 I am hoping to finish my junior year in college, maybe get a few internships going, and just try to be more of an adult about things, I have come to understand that I'm a bit of a childish person so being more mature would be a nice thing to work towards. Something on my Wishlist for 2018 is the Windlass Excalibur sword, as soon as I manage to save up enough spare moneys that is the first thing I want to get unless I get sidetracked by another project that catches my fancy, as I often do www.museumreplicas.com/the-sword-excaliburWould finally like to thank all the mods and donors for this awesome giveaway, I appreciate it, and I'm sure the entire community does too

Second; I am grateful that this year my wife's health has been better than in the past, as well as the fact that I have got a lot of great new friends. I am also very satisfied with the beginning of the year I bought H/T Longsword, it was my first Euro sword for years, and im very happy withh it for the price i payed. For the next year, I hope to get jobs as well get my very first ever custom sword from Elgurs sword makery (two matching longswords one red and one black, and the scabbards will engraved text Protector ad Honorum) black one gona be mine and the red-one gona be my wedding anniversary gift for my wife, seventh year married... Amd here it is the second sword for my wishlist Windlass Suontaka viking sword, because i´v heard only good things of that sword and Windlass is definedly improved its quality, kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=501472... I too want to thanks all the members of our fine community and wish you all the very happy Chirstmast and very happy nwe year too...

In 2017 our family celebrated my father's 90th birthday, my mother's 90th birthday and their 65th wedding anniversary. I'm really thankful for this! For 2018 I'm hoping we could do all this together again with +1 karma. On my wishlist: A straight Chinese saber in modern fittings like f.e. Longship's Furia (best picture of such a sword I could get, but unfortunately too expensive for my taste). I've seen such swords in several tv-series now and more and more I'm fascinated by this design.

I'm thankful for three things from 2017, I'm thankful for my good grades in my college classes, (getting an A, a B and a C in History, English, and Math) my relationship not falling apart after a particularly strenous summer and fall, and after a mishap that landed me in the hospital I'm thankful to still be here As far as a wishlist goes, the Ronin Katana Viking Sword 12. roninkatana.com/medieval-viking-sword-model-12/I've never had any kind of Viking sword, but the more I look at them, the more they seem like European tulwar, in terms of the gripping method. Me likey. Alright, now if no one else posts we can all win a prize! lol

Something I'm thankful for in 2017... well, I have various personal and life issues, and I feel like this year I made a lot of progress towards solving them. Things seem to be getting better for me year by year, and that's something I'm very thankful for. I'm hoping 2018 continues the trend of things getting better, and so far it looks like that's going to be the case. On my wishlist right now is a custom falchion by L Driggers (fallen). You can see pictures here: sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/52753/elmslie-type-falchion-driggers-fallen I already offered Aikidoka my left kidney for it, but for some reason he hasn't taken me up on that....

I'm thankful that my college graduation is in sight. I've just been kinda coasting for the past few months, which isn't a feeling I like, so I'm looking forward to moving on to something new. I'm hoping 2018 brings me some great starting opportunities in the "real world". Top of my wishlist is the CS Polish saber. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=CS88RPS&name=Cold+Steel+-+Polish+SaberThis style of saber is probably my favorite type of sword, and I appreciate the level of thought put into this pieces appearance.

I am most thankful for being healthy and able this holiday season. A few weeks back i damaged my spine. Without getting into details, the pain and feeling of helplessness was awful. Thank God, it is not a permanent or severe injury seeing as how i already broke my tailbone and lowest vertebrae. Something on my list, that i hope to aquire soon (2018?) is a possible commission of a pattern welded katzbalger. hopefully i can get the raise I've been told I'm getting soon into the 2018 payroll. It will go a long way in easing the financial burden this type of commission will cost. Similar to this del tin, just with the added expense of a pattern welded blade. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=DT7164&name=16th+Century+KatzbalgerMerry Christmas to all! And a happy new year!

I'm thankful this year that my wife has started to get a little better. Long story short, she became ill four years ago and has been practically housebound since then, needing 24 hour care for a lot of that. This year she's been able to enjoy life a little again. I couldn't have asked for anything better. In 2018 I'm hoping she will get well enough to cope with a quiet holiday. On the sword front... My wish list is long and distinguished, and this has just been added. It menaced it's way to the top and now sits there gloriously, temptingly, and unobtainably until we win the lottery... A new sword from Rob Miller; The King's Sword:

I'll give it a go. In 2017, my beautiful baby niece was born---perfect and healthy. My wife fully recovered from a serious stomach operation, and I am on my way to full recovery from a light stroke. In 2018, I hope the recent war threats with 'you know who' will end, I hope for continued good health for my family, and I hope to be able to continue being able to work...SO I CAN BUY MORE SWORDS! .....Chris

Wow, there was a lot in 2017 that could have gone wrong, but I'm extremely thankful everything turned out ok. I'm thankful my first niece was born a few months ago perfectly healthy. I'm thankful my dad is still cancer-free and doing better after a horrific car crash towards the end of 2016. I'm thankful my grandmother is still here despite several recent falls and battles with pneumonia. I'm thankful my old dog Duke (he's the one in my avatar) is still doing well and has a good quality of life despite quite a few lipomas and the occasional small seizure. As far as something I'm looking forward to in 2018, I'm hopeful I'll get a new job that will allow me to go camping more and spend more time with my family, who I hope will remain healthy. In addition, something I'm hoping for in 2018 would also be commissioning my first sword. I'm still trying to nail down the specifics, but at the top of my wishlist is a custom sidesword, very much like the one Cervenka makes. www.sword.cz/detail16.jpg

I'm very thankful that my families situations have "calmed" a bit. There at the turn of the year it was quite a mess. I'm also thankful that my current job has afforded me the luxuries and experiences I have had with it, as well as the funding for all my custom/semi custom sword shenanigans. As for this coming year I hope to have a new, better job situation. After that, I plan on focusing my collection waaay more so that I don't have a bunch of stuff I don't use lying around cluttering the place up. Overall it's been a good year. Some stuff I wanted to get done this year never got done, so maybe I'll rectify that in my coming months. On my wishlist of future purchases, I'd for sure have to go with the new Ronin Katana Alexandria Sword. I can't stop thinking about how such a unique blade is very much within my reach, and if they get it right it could seriously stimulate the mid range tier of production swords.

2017... what a year. Firstly, I'm thankful to God for my family, my wife and two daughters. My second just turned 1 year old two weeks ago, and every moment with them has been incredibly precious. I'm thankful for my wife, who's a much better lawyer than I am on top of being an awesome mom and life partner. Secondly, I'm thankful for the comforts that I've been blessed with, and for still being safe and whole. A good job, good staff for the office, a good family car, and a good life overall. Some of you might know that I've recently had security issues, in that my family is under threat (up to now) principally because of my family background, but then again it's part of living in a delusional society that will vote a deranged killer for the highest position in the country in order to solve the wrong problems in the wrong way. Anyway, par for the course of being in this profession, and for trying to do the right thing. Finally, I'm thankful that hope remains, endures, and prevails. For 2018, I'm really hoping to move into my new house. I just began payments for it last week, and after repairs and renovations, might be able to move in by March or April 2018. It's gonna be my first real house (I bought a condo unit before getting married), and I'm excited to plan the sword placement! My wife is letting me go wild with it, so long as the kids are safe. As for my wishlist/dream piece for the next year, it would be a properly old, twistcore Moro kris like this: www.ashokaarts.com/shop/antique-moro-kris-from-sulu-mindanao-with-twistcore-pamor-blade

Well, actually, I have a few things to be thankful for this year. This summer, I won $500 in VISA cards right before we left for holidays, I had some opportunities to jump back into my old line of work, before I took on the duties of a stay-at-home dad: teaching a workshop on stage combat and building weapons for a theatre production, I also found all of the hardwood flooring we need for our house for a ridiculously low price, AND got a new-used truck to haul it with! Now, my brother just went through a nasty operation to remove some cancer from his tongue, and seems to be healing up well, so he gets to go home soon. And it looks like we will be spending Christmas back on the family farm for the first time in a LONG time! The thing that's been on my wish list, longer than anything else is a Kawasaki KX500 (of course, I may have to settle for a KX450F!) However, since my wife and I first started training in historical Spanish Rapier, I've been trying to find a good cup-hilt rapier like this one: arms-n-armor.com/rapier127.html Unfortunately, they seem to be terribly difficult to come by!

This year has been extremely hard. Without going into too much detail about things, just getting up in the morning has been a challenge at times. But the people in my life, my friends and family, they have made pressing on worth the effort. I am very thankful for them, I do not know where I would be if I did not have them in my life. As for swords, I would be over the moon if I ever got my hands on this beauty by Peter Johnson.

2017 Has been a pretty good year for me. I'm thankful to finally have graduated from university, closing a five year and anxiety ridden chapter in my life. I'm also thankful that since starting gym my near-constant back pain has mostly gone away. That one really had me scared. And I'm thankful that I decided to rejoin SBG. I mostly lurk, look at pictures, and dream, but checking in with this community is part of my daily routine now. Hopes for 2018? Well, I hope to join a sports fencing school that just opened up in my town. It's my ultimate dream to practise and eventually teach HEMA, but the nearest HEMA school is 8 hours away. So fencing will do for now, at least it's something in a sword community. My other hope is that I'll use my shiny new degree to get some new work and actually start buying swords. And my wishlist item for 2018 is super simple: I just want two synthetic training swords so I can rope my brother into practising with me in the yard. To start, I want two Red Dragon nylon basket hilted swords. Good luck to everyone else, and a huge thanks to all the sponsors. Happy Holidays!

I’ll go. Something I am thankful for in 2017 has been one of my sons (whom is autistic) has really done an amazing job of learning some self-regulation and has had a WONDERFUL 2017. With his challenges it can be very difficult to lead a “normal” life and make friends. He has done an amazing job. In addition he has been my faithful companion watching Forged in Fire and loves watching me do metalwork in the shop. I hope for 2018 for this trend to continue and maybe begin teaching him some repousse’ As far as wishlist... Christian Fletcher’s Borderwatch still is a highly desired item on my “to get” list:
