Well i found some vendors - mainly aliexpress - who list shipping to germany with a price and further below say "no shipping to Denmark, Germany" etc. etc. *headscratch* WTF?

That is weird. Hopefully this all works itself out before too long.

I finally got my swords from Sino. They were shipped to Germany and then Finland. So no problems in shipping from China to Germany.

It is a shame this is happening. I really hoped to obtain a Huawei in the future. But I suppose I can always go second hand

But I suppose I can always go second hand There IS NO PROBLEM with Huawei - second sword since December, a basic Unokubi-Zukuri, arrived safe and sound after only two weeks! And my sword from chinatown-collector is on its way too - with tracking number... i dont know what this mumbo-jumbo is all about, really!

I took a chance myself and ordered a ninja-katana (st-nihonto) blade, the seller told me he would ship the katana as soon as it was 'made' which likely mean assembled from stock parts, received the shipping notification 5 days after ordering, got it 2 weeks later. Maybe the sellers/makers have huge stocks and have no real trouble answering demand, and that it is too soon yet to see a real impact on the market, that or some forges have made the techonology transition and are working double time to supply everyone. Paul mentioned on the SBG blog that they were restarting their Forge Direct projects soon, so some forge(s) are definitely working out there.

Sinosword just informed me that after Chinese new year (end of Feb) they will be able to ship swords to Finland with EMS.
I guess this includes other EU countries that had problems too. And I guess other Chinese vendors can do the same.
So good news for us living in EU.

Hi All
I was just about to write my first post on this forum asking about steal options for a custom katana I was planning on ordering probably from HanBon Forge. I’m very new to sword collecting. Then I noticed this post.
Does anyone know if HanBon Forge is caught up in this problem?

An interesting side effect of all this is that the Chinese ebay-ers who normally sell sex toys and cosmetics are jumping on the sword band-wagon. I was looking at menuki and all the cheapest sellers have another specialty. It was slightly disorienting seeing tsubas and wakizashis right next to n****e clamps and false eyelashes. I guess Artsfeng has some strange friends.

What about HanBon Forge? I ordered a custom katana from them (my 3rd one; they do nice work), except this one has taken the longest to arrive. Tracking hasn't been updated over two weeks oddly; however the latest data says: "ISC New York", so I'm assuming it's made it here. I'm just wondering where it's been at since, because there's no tracking update yet.

I don't know about Hanbon, but I would say, to make certain that when you ask any China seller if he can provide a custom work, ask pictures of the finished sword once it is done, for aproval and before shipping.
Then you you know and won't get screwed on this point.
Otherwise, the two katana I ordered from China so far got at my door in about two weeks apiece, though they were off the shelve swords. If you are worried about making or shipping time being too long, just send a mail and ask.

I've had swords from Hanbon show being at New York for a couple of weeks before being delivered. I had always guessed they were waiting to clear customs.
Once released from NY, the swords were always just a couple of days from my door.

Yes I know it says that it's from "China town sex Ville ebay" but I promise it's just a mix up."

Oh wow, Ebay is a funny place at times.
