I have commissioned a Gondorian longsword from our very own tdiamante it is still a long ways off but I hope to keep everyone in the loop as to the progress. It will feature the hilt components from Isildur's sword, a very heavily White tree of gondor theme, bronze infused oven sintered stainless steel fittings, 80crv2 hollow ground high polished XVIa blade, im thinking the chape will be something like the borderwatch from christian fletcher. Etched on the blade will also be the tree of gondor but maybe some more inscriptions, we shall see. Pommel will also have a tree design The scabbard with also have the tree of gondor with roots extending down the rest with one blooming flower on the tree (to signify a new age), vines to cover the rest of the empty space. A vine themed suspension. Heres a first look at a concept picture Tomas has kindly sent me. There is still a long ways to go but I'm glad that Tomas is tackling this project for me, his works are really lovely and I love his scabbards, cant wait!

update: the initiate plan was to use laser sintered steel but the lab Tomas was looking at does not do pieces as big, he will instead use the Shapeways facilities which Christian Fletcher also uses to instead make bronze infused oven sintered stainless steel, which is cast bronze with tiny steel beads that just barely touch each other, then molten bronze is poured into the gaps

a new update, more detailed look at the planned guard and pommel, edelweiss flowers looping around the guard, that's the flower that was blooming in ROTK when Denethor leaves to burn Faramir, they will not be black like the concept but rather just grooves in the guard itself. the tree etching on the blade itself and the start of the sindarin words from Dean "re-hammered the sword that has been hewn" also etched just below the tree
